Questions and concerns about Bronchitis

My kid is been having a lot of colds Bronchitis,(we coughs)the last 6 monhts.He has a sibling who sometimes he brings the cold first. It seems some are triggered by allergies, I will be taking to an allergy doctor soon .... to do a test to see what it is allergic to....My pediatric doctor told me that untreated allergies can lead to asthma. I just want to know if many colds can do damage on the lungs? or just I worry too much? He has never had problems on breathing just he gets wet coughs.
