mercury

2 months ago I broke a glass thermometer that contains mercury in my bedroom. We tried to clean it the best we could but it isn't easy. My kids spent a lot of time in my bedroom (ages 6 and 3) -they even sleep in there more that 3 times a week-and I am afraid they might have be affected. I have noticed that since then they cough a lot with no reason, when they sleep they drull and have from time to time a runny nose with green mukus that comes and goes by itself. A doctor suggested to use mercury solubilis just in case. Is it ok to use it?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
No that is not homoeopathy. The symptoms need to be taken, and a remedy prescribed on that basis. The remedy we make from quicksilver will not often cure mercury poisoning, even if that is what this is.

Giving a remedy for such a tentative reason, may just produce side effects in your children, making the situation worse.

This is what I was afraid of and that is why I wanted a second opinion. I haven't used the remedy yet and won't use if it is the wrong one. However, my 3 year old girl is ill the past 8 days.It started with bad appetite for 2 days, the 3rd day she woke up at 3 in the morning with ear pain and I used a painkiller that helped sleep better. The following day was ok, just with yellow mukus and suddenly the 5th day she had fever for 24 hours (39C). Now she is with yellow mucus, a little cough, she cannot open her eyes in the morning because of the mucus, she wakes up every night with nightmares and comes to my bed, her appetite is ok. I use a tablet of bee propolis (500mg) once a day that helps her mucus be clear again and 120mg of Vitamin C. Is there something that I can use to relieve her symptoms? According to this symptoms (plus the broken thermometer the doctor prescribed mercury solubilis). Thank you for the fast reply. I really appreciate your help.

It isn't really enough detail for me to make a prescription. I think the broken thermometer is a red herring - what it may or may not mean is unclear. Only the symptoms matter - but those could lead in any direction.

Is this all the information you gave him?

Normally this is the kind of information I would gather:

. Describe in detail the main problem - appearance, colour, shape, symptoms, behaviour etc. What happens, when it happens etc.

2. Describe any pains or behaviours associated with the symptoms.

3. Describe anything that makes the problem worse ie. position, temperature, food etc.

4. Describe anything that makes the problem better ie. pain is better for cold bathing or at night in bed.

5. Go through each symptom or problem he/she has, doing the same thing (answering questions 1-4), even if the problem does not seem connected to any others.

6. (deleted question)

7. What is his/her character like? What kinds of fears or anxieties does he/she have? What makes him/her irritable? Flesh out his/her personality in regards to how it is different from normal.

8. What foods does he/she crave or hate? What drinks does he/she crave or hate? Is he/she sensitive to anything he/she eats or drinks?

9. How does the weather, temperature or season affect him/her?

10. How have all his/her milestones gone? Does he/she have any issue with speaking, learning, walking, climbing etc

11. How is he/she with socializing with others?

12. What is his/her bowel habit like? Any problems? Any odours, strange colours or stool shapes?

13. Where does he/she sweat? Does it have a smell or does it stain a particular colour?

14. History of illnesses in his/her life?

15. Has he/she reacted to any vaccines or medical drugs?

16. Problems with sleep? Position he/she sleeps in? Nightmares or any dreams he/she talks about?
