Dr Kadwa: daughter has sore throat (chronic)
My 9 year old daughter has a fever today and a sore throat. She complains about her throat hurting on a regular basis, for quite a few months now, even when no other symptoms are present. Sometimes it seems red, other times it looks normal.Today it is red and her tonsils are swollen.
Her colour seems a bit off lately. Her skin is of slight olive tone, but she looks quite pale lately and her cheeks don't get rosy even when she exercises.
She is a very tall girl, well built with extra weight on her belly and face. She is quite stubborn, and gets offended easily, especially if she feels that she has been treated wrongfully.
She doesn't easily show affection and smiles hesitantly, especially to strangers.
She doesn't like milk much, but she likes chocolate. She eats a lot of citrus fruit. She likes meat.
She likes to sleep with her head elevated, maybe because she has nasal discharge often and she sleeps better? She doesn't like being too warm in bed. She complains that she doesn't sleep well but is not particularly restless.
She has little patience with her younger sister and they often fight.
Her mucous doesn't seem to clear up easily. She has nasal discharge and snuffles for months and phlegm, especially on waking.
I'd appreciate your help.
