Extreme cravings during cold weather

As long as I can remember I have had uncontrollable food cravings once the weather changes. In the summer I feel as though I can control my eating habits and eat reasonably. Once it gets cold I feel out of control. My life is consumed by food, I think about it all the time, even after I just ate! Many times I have sugar cravings, but I crave all foods. I always gain weight in winter, sometimes as much as 10 lbs. I want to stop this cycle and no longer be a prisoner to food. Help!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
And, can you tell me about yourself a bit more ?Describe your personality to me. Any fears or anxieties ?

Also, when did this uncontrollable desire to eat start ? Any life event that you can correlate to this ?

Any other health problems?
sameervermani last decade
I have had it as long as I can remember. My mom said that it was even there when I was a child.

Other health problems include celiac disease (allergy to gluten), monthly water retention based on my menstrual cycle. I gain and lose about three pounds and half a cup size so that I have swollen, achy breasts each month. I also have developed puffiness under my eyes that does not go away.

I also have anxiety, I tend to obsess about my problems and feel guilty and anxious. Sometimes I feel anxious for no reason. I am also competitive about almost everything I do, even though I know rationally there is no reason to be this way. I fear not being good enough at almost everything I do. I want to please people, although I am not as self sacrificing as I once was.

I am 28 years old.

Thank you so much for addressing this!

Hmm.. what do you feel guilty about ?

Are there any past events, you mull over ?

Tell me about any other fears as well.

Do you like to be consoled and conforted during your rough times ?

Are you an extrovert or an introvert ?
sameervermani last decade
I feel guilty that I am not doing enough or good enough. this varies from situation situation. for example I will feel guilty about my uncontrollable eating, or guilty that I didn't stay longer at work, or I made a mistake. this guilt/anxiety is obsessive, and I tend to fixate. I will ask those around me repeatedly for input. This drives my sister and husband crazy. they always tell me too calm down and let things go.

My primary fear is that I am never good enough. Not a good enough teacher, not attractive enough, not a good enough friend or wife. I dont really have other fears, I have been dreaming about being attacked and stabbing intruders repeatedly.

I do like to be comforted and seek support.

I am an extrovert. I have two distinct and very different personas. My work persona as a teacher (Professional), and my persona when I am around friends and family (playful).

thanks again.

And, do you have a mild/yielding persona, where as long as you feel loved and approved, you are happy ? Or you have a strong personality ?
sameervermani last decade
Yes I have a mild/ yielding personality as long as I feel loved and approved. I rarely find a person I can't find a way to get along with. I do have strong opinions, but I will not communicate them in situations when to do so would be contradictory.

Okay then, please take 3 doses of Pulsatilla 30c evenly spaced on a single day.

Dissolve 2 pellets of Pulsatilla 30c in 250 ml plain spring water (if you leave them in the spring water bottle they will dissolve, and then u can shake gently for them to spread evenly), and a capful from this bottle is 1 dose.

Some restrictions:
1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be avoided during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Let me know in 5 days after this.

Thank you! This is also my dog's constitutional remedy!
dartski last decade
You're welcome, and let me know how you get on.
sameervermani last decade
Seems to be working really well. It got very cold and rainy here, which is usually a trigger and I did not have the cravings. Thank you so much!
dartski last decade
Excellent :)

No medicine for now. Update me in 1 week from now.
sameervermani last decade
How are you doing now, dartski ?
sameervermani last decade
Very good, I am able to control my eating and eat a more healthy, reasonable amount. I am so grateful!
dartski last decade
I have been experiencing very puffy eyes. They are worse when I wake up. I have tried apis 6x, which worked for a while, when it stopped I went up to apis 30x. Eventually that stopped working so I tried Berbaris Vulgaris, but that didn't seem to do anything. I also have dark circles under my eyes. I do not have any allergies besides gluten.
dartski last decade
Are the eye lids swollen ?
sameervermani last decade
No, just the area under my eyes. My left is worse than he right.
dartski last decade
Any other troublesome mental or physical symptoms ?(Howsoever small )
sameervermani last decade
I am tired and have a slow metabolism, I have been taking thyro for that though. The last two days I cried easily, but my puffy eyes have been there for at least four months. Could it possibly be my kidneys or liver? I have had a history of binge drinking.
dartski last decade
I also suffer from chronic constipation, which has been a problem since I was a child and has not changed since I stopped eating gluten.
dartski last decade
Dear dartski,

Please take a SINGLE dose of Pulsatilla 200c.

Nothing should enter the mouth for 1 hour on either side of the dose.

Let me know in 3 days after this.

sameervermani last decade
Still no change. I just want you to know I have a strong commitment to my health. I exercise, eat healthy, and take no medications. In the past I had bad habits, but I am changing that now. I am not one of those people who want to 'increase their size.' I want to be in balance. Thank you!
dartski last decade
Tell me how fastidious are you ?

How much do you worry about cleanliness and order ?

Any perfectionist traits ?

How are you with spending money ?
sameervermani last decade
I am not naturally clean or orderly. My house is usually messy. I am a perfectionist about my appearance. I dress nicely and work out and worry about my weight obsessively. I also want the house to look perfect when people come over, so I will clean for other people. I am not great with money. I like to spend it on clothes and skin care, but I do manage to save some and I am not in debt.
dartski last decade
Hi ,

Please take 3 doses of Lycopodium 6c equally spaced for 1 single day ONLY.

Report in 3 days after the 3 doses.

sameervermani last decade
No change yet with my eyes. When I took the remedy it didn't feel quite right.

My cravings have come back with a vengeance. Mostly for sweets, but I feel hungry all the time, even after meals. I also have a very slow metabolism. I eat 1500-1700 calories/ day and exercise vigorously (1-1 &1/2 hours of Bikram Yoga, running, biking, etc) five days a week. Most calorie calculators say that I should be eating 2000-2600 calories per day. Very frustrating!
