Hi.

I wrote two posts. The first was to say I was giving it to her and then the second to report any updates. I think you might have seen just the update.

I gave the one dose of sillicea this morning. By night time, the right eye was starting to improve and the left eye got very bad with oozing yellow. Then she developed a fever. She's waking like always but crying really hard and in pain each time. Belladonna??

Cailanna 9 years ago
Yes, you may use belladonna.

telescope 9 years ago
Wow. What a rough night. Fever is down to normal now. The oozing of her eyes is starting to lessen. Nose is still running. All discharge is clear but then dries yellow and thick. Diaper rash didn't come back yesterday so that seems resolved. She woke in painful wails evey hour and a half, and needed to be held upright with a little bouncing until falling back asleep which would take about five to fifteen minutes. Even nursing was of no help. A little anger but not the scream of Chamomila. I only had belladonna 30x so I gave her a dose and then one more within the hour. That was around midnight I think. She did nurse every 10-20 minutes from around 4:30- 6:15. Then she got a sleep cycle in without nursing.

This morning she is tired but also happy. Her energy and mood are affected unlike the last times she was sick. She's a little more clingy but not a lot and she's a little less happy but not unhappy.

I cleaned her eyes and unblocked her nose. Her nose is running constantly. We shall see how the day goes.

She won't see her cousin for two weeks so hopefully she will get a break from being exposed to illness. Unless you think this developed as a response to the meddorhinim to clear out some suppressed stuff?

Thank you!

Hi. This is my second post for today.

She is getting a little worse. The left eye is oozing quite a bit, the nose is nonstop. Worse when lying down. No appetite. Thirst but not a lot. Clingy.

I want to do pulsatilla 30c. Is that ok? I thought about Nat Muir but she has a little yellow discharge at the eye.

My thanks.

Cailanna 9 years ago
Ok. One dose only. If cough develops give one dose Sulphur after pulsatilla.

telescope 9 years ago
Ok. Thank you.

Cailanna 9 years ago
Hi.

I thought she was showing improvement after the pulsatilla yesterday, but today is the worst yet.

Her eyes were sealed shut this morning and it took much effort to unglue. Nose is running clear a lot and then getting crusty yellow. She cannot be put down without crying. Her voice is congested. The fever came back last night and then went back down by morning. She has coughed a wet choking cough about four times but no consistent cough yet. Her voice is different so it's definitely going deeper. Her undereyes are very red and a little swollen. The eyes are watering less but developing yellow crust in the corners. No appetite. Little thirst. Mood is clingy and irritable. Better from being outside and seeing people. Worse in early morning. Worse lying down. Sulphur?

Cailanna 9 years ago
Ok. Sulphur but let us not change medicine so quickly. Give Sulphur one dose and see for 3 days.

telescope 9 years ago
Ok. Understood. Thank you.

If you have time, I was wondering why some homeopaths suggest just one dose and others say three doses a day for a certain number of days? When I went to buy the right belladonna, the homeopath at the store wanted me to try switching back and forth between several remedies all day long. One of the homeopaths I saw in the past suggested just one dose of M strength. Another wanted LM repeated three times a day for three days. I'm confused. I thought the right remedy shouldn't need to be repeated unless symptoms returned. Is it different for certain schools?

I know you're helping other people so I don't expect a response. But if you're interested in replying, or even telling me where to look for the answer myself, I'd be curious about the answer.

Thank you!

I will try to clarify the points.
Those who prescribe only one medicine (one dose or more than one) do so with a view to curing the person.
Those who prescribe more than one medicine aims their medicine at the particular problems the patient complaints of.
For example if you go to a doctor and say that you have stomach pain, constipation, gall stones uterus prolapse ,the first category doctor will give only one medicine which will cover the entire case and all the problems will be cured.
The second category will give four different medicines for the four different problems.
Of course there are other kinds of cases where people prescribe more than one medicine but the main reason is same :defective understanding of principles and materia medica.
For a deeper understanding of the subject you can look up "Lectures on Homeopathic Philosophy" by J.T.Kent.

telescope 9 years ago
Thank you!!! It must be so hard understanding the material medica properly.

Multiple doses in one day are ok then as long as it's just the one medicine?

Cailanna 9 years ago
You can repeat medicine in acute complaints but to be on the safe side only low potencies should be used. It is unsafe to repeat from 200 upwards.
Repeating can be very harmful in chronic cases if the selection is correct. The case will be spoiled.
Repeating incorrect medicine can also be harmful. It can lead to involuntary proving.

Interesting. Thank you. I'd have to say then that one of the homeopaths must not have been very good then.

Well it has been three or four days since sulphur. (I'm quite sick now so I can't really recall when we started).

The first night upon taking sulphur, she had such bad nasal drainage and congestion that she threw up from coughing/choking on her nasal gunk. She gagged until puking.

She had a 102 fever that night as well. My hudband demanded I give her baby tylenol since it was another night of fever and the doctor told us 102 needed treatment. She got a half of the dose.

She slep in two hour blocks for the first time in a month.

After the next day, she puked again from gagging on her nasal gunk. She woke a little more frequently. She also had a fever that night but I didnt give her tylenol.

She became more thirsty.

The eyes are fine now and there is no diaper rash.

Appetite is starting to return slowly.

Today she did not gag enough to vomit but she is gagging on the gunk.

Today she is very very clingy. She cannot be put down for more than a minute or two. It's so unlike her (when she is well). However her general disposition is starting to improve. She is less tired and she is being more vocal like her usual self again.

She still has a runny nose but it is improved. Less than before but still there. White to clear. She is coughing from her nose gunk sliding down the back of her throat. It makes her gag.

I suspect her throat must hurt a little. My husband and I are both sick and our throats hurt from all the drainage. Our bodies also ache so we suspect hers does to. Maybe less so since she is farther along in her illness than we.

Any course of action in your opinion?

Thank you for all the help.

This time let the medicine work for a week. Do not disturb unless it is really necessary. Repeat one dose if there is difficulty.

telescope 9 years ago
Hello.

It has been one week since sulphur. I did redose one time the night before last night. Her diaper rash was terrible and her illness symptoms all got worse again.

The diaper rash cleared up and the illness symptoms plateaued again. Her illness symptoms are: runny nose with post nasal drip that causes her to gag and vomit. The nose runs clear but when she vomits, the gunk is yellow. The other big symptom which is never her norm is that she will barely let me put her down. Even if I am on the floor right next to her, touching her, she will climb on me until I am holding her and she cries if I put her down. So far today, this clinginess might be a little better as she is playing independently for about ten minutes now. She has only been awake for twenty minutes so wAe shall see if it holds.

Last night was the first frustrating night since the sulphur dose a week ago. She wouldn't go to sleep and it took an hour to put her down. She starting biting my nipple again while nursing at this time too. She did it with a smile on her face and thought it was playtime. It's not fun for me and although she tried to do it softly, it really upsets me. I wonder if she is teething again. I think the times when she starts biting my nipple have corresponded with teething but I cannot see a toothbud in her mouth. She wound up gagging on her snot and vomiting all the milk.

When she finally slept it was very restless and for the first time in over a month she started moving back and forth from side to side and then sitting up repeatedly. She woke at 2:30 am For an hour which hadn't happened since she got sick. She was coughing on the post nasal drip and it woke her up. Then she couldn't breathe through her nose well enough to nurse so she got wound up and wanted to play a little. I didn't let her play. I keep trying to help her nurse until she lay still.

She was cold --she won't sleep with socks or a blanket. When I turned up the heat, she slept better. That's a first. Usually she is better for a cool room and worse in a warm room. But it was rather cold last night so the room wasn't hot just warmer.

Appetite is still getting better. Her mood has been returning to her normal happy self too (as long as I hold her).

So far today I haven't had to hold her so I am hopeful that maybe she won't be as clingy today.

Thank you.

Next time she needs medicine give her Sulphur 200.

telescope 9 years ago
Will do. I have a question. The baby falls or bumps her head as babies do. Is it ok to give arnica or will it interfere with the sulphur?

Thank you.

Cailanna 9 years ago
It may interfere but give Arnica because bumps should not be neglected. If needed you can always repeat medicine.

telescope 9 years ago
Great. Thank you! Glad to hear it as I think it's important to handle her bumps and falls too.

Thanks!

Hi,

I wonder if you have any suggestions. The baby is still a little sick and it has been three weeks. Her nose is still running and she's coughing at night from the nasal drainage. Actually, my husband and I are still sick too with the same symptoms as the baby. None of us seem to be able to shake this cold. Any ideas?

Her sleeping is actually getting better where she can go three hours between waking (unless she is coughing). We had a few nights where she only woke three times instead of six/eight times, but then her nasal symptoms and coughing started to return. Obviously I would love to get her on a schedule of only waking every three hours instead of every hour. Every four hours would be even better but if she is coughing with nasal drainage, she wakes more. Not sure what to do.

As a recap: before she got sick, she had Calc phosphate 30c, then a split dose of medorrhinum 30c three days later, then she got sick and got conjunctivitis so we did silica 30c, followed by belladonna 30x for her fever, then pulsatilla 30c and Nat mur 30c for her constant running nose and congestion, and then sulphur 30c. She had another dose of sulphur a few days later and no remedies for a week. Then arnica for a bump on her head.

I absolutely will not give her anything until I hear from you since sometimes I have gotten too eager to help. Any ideas would be so appreciated. I am concerned about why she is not kicking this cold. I'm happy she is sleeping better but she needs to be healthy.

Thank you so much

All the three of you take one dose Psorinum 30. This is to boost your immunity.

telescope 9 years ago
Hello,

The whole family took psorinum 30c three days/two nights ago. It seems to be helping the baby a little bit as her nose is running less which is causing less gagging. She coughs a lot when she wakes trying to clear the gunk from her throat.

The sleep has gotten awful. Waking every hour again, hard to put to sleep, getting up earlier and wanting to nurse from 4am on pretty constant. At what point might I give more sulphur if you think that is the right course of action?

As well, her diaper rash seems to be aggravated these past few days. She has been straining a lot when she has a bowel movement. She sweats a little and her eyes water and underneath her eyes turn a little red while she is going. The texture is a little more firm than usual but it's not hard. Maybe something in her poop is different and it is turning her skin red in addition to causing strain?

As of getting sick three weeks ago, I've noticed that she now doesn't like her hair washed. It's the first time I've really seen her seem unnerved by anything. She used to absolutely love bath time and being wet. She still likes bath time but wants to nurse for comfort anytime I get her head wet. She seems really unsettled by having her head wet and it has never been an issue before.

Otherwise, her mood is good and her energy is high. Appetite is good but weight is still a little low. She's tall but skinny. Still loves the outdoors and interacting with babies, strangers and animals. Still pulls socks and hats off right away. Worse at night through the early morning. Head still sweats when sleeping (just the part touching the bed).

Thank you!

You can give her Sulphur now.

telescope 9 years ago
Hi.

It has been several nights since the sulphur. It helped for one night but she is back to waking every hour. In the first few hours after going to bed, she wakes with a high pitched crying. She's soothed quickly with nursing but it seems like she is in pain. Maybe her first year molars are starting to hurt. I really have no idea. I'm pretty disappointed that after she had a week of sleeping in three hour blocks, she has gone back to waking every hour again. I'm exhausted.

Any thoughts? Thank you for your input.

Cailanna 9 years ago
Give her one dose Calcarea Carb 30 in the evening .
It is possible that her medicines are getting antidoted by something. Are you taking any medicine or using sour food and drinks ? Coffee is also known to antidote homeopathic medicine.

telescope 9 years ago
Hi.

Thank you--I don't drink coffee and we don't make it at the home. My husband does get a coffee on his walk with the baby every day. No sour or acidic foods for the baby. I can't figure out what would be negating the remedy. Nothing has changed during the weeks were we have had success versus weeks were it seems to have regressed. Her diet doesn't change much. I don't use fragrances either. The only thing I use that I can think of is toothpaste with mint but it's so little and I'm not consuming it. If we can figure out what is making the remedies not work, that would be amazing but I can't see anything different from when it works versus when it doesn't. I take fish oil, and vitamins. She and I get a probiotic and teas with some Chinese herbs (not sour) to help our immune system.

I have noticed that she has started to cry a little when men other than daddy hold her. She has let nearly any stranger hold her up until now but just this past week, she won't let men hold her except daddy. She still loves little boys though. She has not had any bad experiences with men but this is only the second time I've seen her not like something (the first being her new issue with getting her head wet).

Last night with Calc carb, she slept a little better in the beginning of the night but no change from 2-7am.

Thanks for all your help.
