Homeopathic Remedies for Severe OCD Page 3 of 7

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I just want to give an update on what remedies we've tried for my 18 year old son's mental condition so far.

The first recommendation that we wanted to try was BELLADONNA and PHOSPHORUS.
My son's blood test showed that his OCD could be related to the brain inflammation during enciphilitis that he had in early childhood after being sick with the virus.

As it was suggested we started with BELLADONNA 1M one dose every week for 3 weeks. Then after a gap of two weeks, we took PHOSPHORUS 1M one dose per week for 3 weeks (the doses in empty stomach early morning; no food or water for one hour after taking the dose; for one dose, take some 4 drops of the remedy in 2 teaspoon of water and sip it slowly; dont take anything of a strong taste and smell on the day you take the remedies, like coffee, onions, garlic, too much sweet or sour, mint etc.

We waited for 2 months but did not see any changes in his condition.

The next remedy that we tried was CALC CARB 10M (1 dose of 3 to 4 drops of the remedy mixed with 20 ml of water; sip the mixture slowly; take this in empty stomach at 5 a.m and go back to sleep for the next 2 hours; do not wash the mouth or take anything for the next two hours).

It's been over two weeks and his mental condition stays the same with the following symptoms:

- Talking to himself (mental rituals), can not stop doing this because it comes from his brain continuously going over thoughts
- Obsessive thoughts throughout the day (including thoughts of mental/ physical defects or disablilities, thoughts of bad behavior, such as being rude, whether it involves other people or himself, ect.)
- Severe anxious feeling in the stomach throughout the day
- Fearful about his health and projected self-image
- Picking skin on the finger knuckles or on the lips (nervous habit)
- Gesture of shooting a bullet in the head (projecting feelings of anxiety or annoyance with the condition)
- Pessimistic mood (does not believe any treatment would help)
- Severe sweating when faced or just thinks of the slightest stressful situation
- Difficulties to think clearly and concentrate throughout the day (as a result of constant mental compulsions)
- Kissing knuckles (nervous habit)
- Spends an excessive amount of time on some daily routines (30 minutes in the bathroom, 40 minutes brushing his teeth in the morning, ect.)
- Lack of confidence in facing people, making a conversation over the phone or in person (with anyone outside the family)
- No interest in finding treatment or talking to other sufferers
- Easily angered and irritated with comments or behavior toward him from others
- Feeling very stressed when the obsessive thoughts persist even after the rituals are completed
- Constantly counting as a part of the rituals
- Constantly ordering events, objects, ideas (mental rituals- feeling of a need to focus exclusively on a certain thought or idea, during which all other activity has to be temporary stopped)
- Strive very hard to recall the details of events and this bothers him very much
- At times, avoids interacting with people (when in a bad state)
- Does not enjoy many things
- Goes to bed very late and wakes up early
- Does not go out for fun, stays home most of the time
- Does not always care about personal hygiene (skips showers, does not floss, does not brush his hair because of other things, such as obsessive thoughts, on his mind)
- Lacks initiative, drive or motivation (does not try to find a job, didn't care what college to attend because of fears and preoccupations)
- Does not clean up his room

The next remedy we are going to try is STRAMONIUM 200C one dose every sunday morning for three weeks.

We are very greateful for the feedback we are getting. We'll keep you posted about how things are going.

Note: unfortunately I couldn't get my son to start on EFT.

Hello, my son is currently trying different homeopathic remedies to see if he can get some long-term help with his severe OCD. At the same time he needs to go through some extra-stressful tasks for him from time to time such as tests, finals, in-class presentations. His obsessive-compulsive behaviors consume all his energy and makes it impossible to concentrate. So I am looking for something that would at least reduce his stress-level and axiety temporarily but quickly. At the same time we don't want to interfere with the homeopathic remedy.

It looks like the Bach Flower Remedies White Chestnut and Crab Apple might be helpful for some people. Also the Schuessler Tissue Salts Ferrum phosphorica 30X and
Kali Phosphorica 200X showed some results. Could you please advise if the Bach Flower Remedies and
the Schuessler Tissue Salts are safe to take or they can interfere with my son's homeopathic treatment?

Also would the Aromatherapy (Lavender 4%,
Rosemary 4%, Valerian 12%) present any concerns?

Your feedback is very much appreciated! Any other suggestions are very welcome. Thank you!

BlackSea last decade
I can say only that tissue salts do not interfere with remedies, however essential oils (aromatherapy) might, as all strong smells do.

I have no experience with Bach flowers, sorry.

Another update .....

The next recommendation was: 'STRAMONIUM 200C one dose every sunday morning for three weeks. If there is any positive change, then try STRAMONIUM 1M every sunday for next three weeks.'

My son took STRAMONIUM 200C on two Sundays and we didn't see any changes.

The next step was trying to address the possible miasmatic block in my son, which could be coming in the way of cure, with 'SULPHUR 1M on one morning and then another dose of 10M after 7 days'.

My son took SULPHUR 1M but he didn't feel any change so we didn't proceed with SULPHUR 10M.

Once again we are very greatful for the recommendations. I am hoping the diet, herbs, supplements are not interfering with the remedies. My son is taking a bunch of Chinese herbs and a bunch of supplements. But he does not brush his teeth on the day he takes the remedy. The coffee, tea, onion and garlic are currently excluded from his diet.

Hi, my son is now 19. His obsessive-compulsive symptoms are even more severe. After homeopatic remedies we've tried herbs, neuro-supplements, vitamins, cleansing, diets. But no results so far. I was hoping to maybe get some new suggestions on homeopatic remedies. There is no homeopatic doctor in our area and we can not get a face-to-face consultation. As always I appreciate the recommendations!!!

Dear Black Sea, you have to have in mind that for the high potencies that you are trying on your son, its necesary (not easy) to be patient before change remedies. For example if you use a 1000c (1M) you should wait at least 35-45 days. And in case of a 10M, 45-60 days...at least, so try to be patient.
Calcarea Carbonica was a good idea, but, how long did you wait to see the results?

god luck!

Albert last decade
Thank you very much for the reply!!! I was told 'please do not give any remedy after giving calc carb 10m for at least one month. note the conditions and report to me once every 15 days.' That's what we did. Thanks again!

Just wanted to give a little more information. We've tried various conventional (antidepressants, therapy) and alternative (acupuncture, herbs, Chinese herbs, neuro-supplements, vitamins & minerals, bach flowers, homeopathy), but nothing worked. We were told that he might have some molecular antigens that had to be removed in order for him to respond to various treatments. His mental illness is the most important problem we need to address, but he has other problems including constipation and huge cystic acne. He is already on a strict diet and we started the cleansing. The problem is that the most effective cleansing is the water fasts for several days. He tried 36-hour fast but only made 24 hours. Our naturopathic doctor said that the only thing that can replace water fasting is homeopathy. It looks like there is such thing as bio-therapeutic drainage and UNDA homeopathic remedies. I was wondering if this is something my son might need. I appreciate the recommendations!!!

BlackSea last decade
This might not be exactly what you asked, but, The most potent allopathic therapy for your son is the antidepressant Clomipramine (this is kind of old) another option not so proven is Fluvoxamine, both in high doses and for long periods of time, say 6-8 months.Anxiolitics as clonazepam are used as coadjuvant only.
Besides you may want to find some practitioner that uses a therapy called: Bioresonance, try at www.regumed.de and i think that you could contact someone in Ukraine who use it...this system sometimes is very useful.

Regarding what you called the block, first its necesary to address the specific underlying miasm. What remedy do you think is the similimum for your son?

Albert.

Albert last decade
Thank you very much for the information!!! As far as similimum, I don't think we found one yet. He didn't respond to the remedies we've tried before. He took Zoloft and Prozac for over 6 months before without results. I am very scared about the side-effects as well.

BlackSea last decade
What dose of prozac and what dose of zoloft?
Sometimes a combination of 2 antidep. is needed , like fluoxetine + Clomipramine in very serious cases and it works....Clomipramine is a 'must' in serious cases. But have any of the hom. remedies that you tried have caused ANY change at all, I meant amelioration, agg, at any level not only emotional/mental.
And what was the first illneses that your son had when he was a child?

Albert last decade
What are your son main fears?

Albert last decade
He took the highest dosage of Zoloft. Homeopathic remedies did not produce any change at all. His main fears are: being incompetent, being disabled and not being able to do regular bodily functions (breathing, swallowing, etc.).

Just want to thank you again for helping us!!!

BlackSea last decade
In your opinion, Does these fears of not being able to do regular bodily functions mean that he could be disabled to control himself in the future? Or it means a fear of dead?

Is there an specific hour when he is worst?
What kind of sweets he craves the most?

Also in my personal opinion and with all of the treatments that he is been given the repetition of remedies should be most often. Even with 1M and 10M, obviously until you get some kind of change.

Dear Blacksea,

I read your posts and feel very sorry for your boy. I know there is a remedy for him but you must be very careful before giving him more remedies. The high potencies you have given him may cause longtermed and severe aggravations. Me and my two boys are getting help here at the forum by Sameer vermani. My eldest boy has ADHD. I don´t know anything about OCD but I know for sure that you need to be cautious about the prescriptions.

You may benefit from reading my threads and see how Sameer prescribes the remedies. ONLY ONE DOSE and then wait and see.

Hope for the best for your son!

Pia, thank you very much for your support and for the information. My son is old enough to do the water fasting (I put more info on blank">http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/149280/), but he is not motivated to go through with it. He tried 36 hours but only did 24. I was told there are homeopathic remedies that can help/replace water fasting, so I am trying to see what we can use. Good luck to you and your family!!!

BlackSea last decade
Sounds interesting with the waterfasting. But I am sure that Sameer can help you here at the forum.

I wish you the best luck!

The orthodox approach of 1 Dose And wait is the best when the case is uncomplicated with the use of other therapies and the patient has enough sensitivity to react, this is not always the case in mentals ailments.-
There was a suggestion of Astra before about Arsenicum and I think that could be of help in this case.

Good luck
Albert

Thank you very much!!!

BlackSea last decade
Okay , so a question to BlackSea, has Arsenic Album been tried ever , and how many doses and in what potency ?

The 'fear of getting disabled' is a BLACK TYPE symptom for Arsenicum.

Arsenicum is also listed as a 'BLACK TYPE' for obsessive repetitive thoughts.

The reason for him not being very worried about personal hygeine is because this obsession with cleaning in Arsenicum is a very syphilitic trait and the dominant miasm in your child is not syphilis.

Another question, has any nosode (in particular Medhorrhinum)been given to him in any potency ever, as if Arsenic has failed in the past, I think there is a miasmatic block that needs to be tackled.

And, to Albert , yes this case might require repetition but of a low potency like 6C in a wet dose for sometime, and in case there is benefit the next step would be to go to an LM potency.

'The orthodox approach of 1 Dose And wait is the best when the case is uncomplicated with the use of other therapies and the patient has enough sensitivity to react, this is not always the case in mentals ailments'

This is not true, as 1 dose and wait does not necassarily mean waiting for months , it is whatever time it takes for a previous dose to stop giving further benefit or in other words the time it takes for the body to respond completely, and this is true in C potencies ALWAYS. With a wet dose, the time it takes to fully respond is less, and hence a few doses of a same potency might be repeated. Ofcourse, the LMs can speed up the cure because they are amenable to repetition in case there is no STRIKING amelioration.

But C potencies can never be prescribed in a mecahnical repetition regimen. Even in case of other therapies or complicated disorders damaging the vitality, that does not mean repeating the the remedy too much , that implies starting the case at a lower potency.

Greetings Sameer, everyone has a different approach to the same problem.

But, i am glad that you have tought of Arsenicum Album for this case.

Albert

Albert last decade
Dr. Sameer, I really appreciate you looking at my son's case. We tried Arsenic Album 1M for two weeks/one dosage a week. We did not move to 10M because there were no changes in his condition. The miasmatic block was mentioned to us before and it was suggested that he tried Sulfur. So we did.

As far as Medhorrhinum, we've never tried it. Dr. Sameer, do you think we should go ahead and try it?

Thanks again!!!

BlackSea last decade
Hello Albert,

He even has 'picking of lips' another big indicator for Arsenicum.

Sameer

sameervermani last decade
And, what was the gap between the last 1M dose and the Sulphur dose ?

sameervermani last decade
Hello Sammer,
Also, agreed about med. being the nosode, but what do you think about the time (only 2 weeks) given for Arsenicum in the M to act?

Albert

Albert last decade
Here are the dates of the previous recommendations.
I hope this is the information you were asking about. If it's not, please let me know.

Only one dosage of SULPHUR 1M was given and we were told not to give another dosage because the first one did not produce any results. This is also true for PHOSPHORUS and STRAMONIUM

08/13/2007: BELLADONNA 1M one dose every week for 3 weeks. after a gap of two weeks, PHOSPHORUS 1M one dose per week for 3 weeks.

10/27/2007: CALC CARB 10M only one dose after 2 weeks only.

11/11/2007: STRAMONIUM 200C one dose every sunday morning for three weeks.

12/17/2007: SULPHUR 1M on one morning and then another dose of 10M after 7 days.

04/01/2008: Arsenic Album 1M one dose every week for 2 weeks.
