This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.

For mood swings specially some medicines use ful are:

PULSATILLA and IGNITIA.

The two can also be used in alteration with each other.

However, not in alteration with HYSCOMUS.
Please check their drug picture and match your symptoms befor you start on a course.

The two are more appropriate if you are a female.

They benefit women much more than men. However, it doesn't mean that the two medicines are not useful for men.

hi,
i am myself an ocd sufferer.
i cannot say much about the other symptoms as i am myself looking for a cure. I also suffered from insomnia for a long time and the best remedy i found was to tire myself before bedtime.
I do not know if you have tried it , if not, then try to perfomr some heavy physical exercises before your dinner. You can do some cycling, push ups, crunches and stretching. It works for me, i usually doze off to sleep after dinner, you could try the same and let me know if it was effective.

I have suffered with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder since the age of about 10 yrs old. Now, in 2005 at the age of 30 I've accumulated a wealth of information about the disease and my feelings of anxiety, depression, irritability, and many more symptoms. About five years ago I noticed that the non-OCD symptoms (depression, irritability, nervousness) came according to the types of foods that I ate. I found that my undesirable moods and emotions were because of allergic reactions to foods (read bottom paragraph). So allergies have been my focus recently. Well what does that have to do with OCD? Allergies are an autoimmune disorder. Improper thyroid functioning is known to be associated with causing allergies and emotional issues (healthcare professionals told me this). To make things more complicated the thyroid is somewhat regulated (or controlled) by the pituitary gland in the brain which in turn is regulated by the hypothalamus in the brain.

My point is that seeking a remedy that specifically targets "OCD" may not be the best answer. I don't know, I'm just throwing this out there.

My nutritionist told me that there are some common foods that when broken down in digestion they tend to gum up the small villi of the intestines greatly diminishing the absorption of some nutrients. She said these are the "glue foods" they are products made with wheat, gluten, milk, maybe rice? and a couple others. In my particular case I am not able to absorb iodine which is crucial for thyroid functioning. I'm also being tested for Celiac disease--an intolerance to gluten (which has proven connections with mental disorders).

Your welcome. Thank you for your suggestions too.

Thanks for your reply.

i also read that OCD patient livers do not absorb nutirents as effectvely. High histaminelevels alo cause an increase in allergies and histamine level is always found to be elevated ina a ocd patient.

i am trying l-methionine and anline drink (calcium) as they reduce the histamine. i am also taking a vitamin supplement called Inositol.

i am from india and a big rice eater. it forms the bulk of our food. i do not digest wheat very well.

Please do let me know your progress. i will also let you know in case i stumble on something.

you can look up my email addres in my profile and snd mails directly if o prrfer.

thanks

Thank you for your information. I'll have to look into my histamine levels. I kind of wanted to post this on the ABCHOMEOPATHY WEBSITE so that more people could benefit. Millions of people suffer with this condition.

My understanding of histamine levels is that they are a direct result of an allergic reaction. For at least my food allergies, I was supposedly "cured" of them by a well respected Applied Kinesiology (or AK) professional specifically using the NAET method in combination with muscle testing. What he does is ask my body yes/no questions using strength or sudden muscle weakness in my arm for answers to find the source and cause of the allergy. I then hold the allergic substance in one hand as he rebalances my body with respect to that substance using accupressure. I have to say that it looked pretty hokey and dumb, but actually the results speak for themselves. Allergies are curable I believe now. It makes sense if you think about it--if your body can develop a sensitivity to a food or any other stimuli, then your body can also lose that sensitivity.

My nutritionist said that my test results showed that I was having poor absorption of nutrients. She just had me start taking a product "Okra Pepsin E3" made by Standard Process that is supposed to break down the excess buildup of mucos and other hardened material lining the intestines so that more nutrients can be absorbed. I'll let you know the results from that if you want.

I forgot one important thing in my last reply for anybody else reading this. The AK profession tends to attract a lot of "wierd" and I would imagine sometimes fraudulent people. My particular doctor is also a doctor of Chiropractic and just completed a four-year Traditional Chinese Medicine degree. Another good clue would be the quality of the professionals he works and associates with.
