13 year old boy with add

My 13year old son had several strep and ear problems, not excessive. He tends to look pastey with dark circles under his eyes. I have not tried much with him, some homeopathics, and just started Attention Focus. He is quite healthy and has not had any problems since 6 years old other than stuffy nose. Maybe an allergy problem. He has a very strong memory for information, dislikes reading and writing, very good with math facts, tends to be anxious physically and mentally. He says his mind wanders. He is fidgitty and appears to not attend. He is home schooled now, but the teachers saw focusing problems when he was in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. He is a good, sensitive boy and could be great if he could focus!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Have you looked into cutting out additives, preservatives and some know allergen foods (citrus and tomatoes, foods high in salicylates)? this could help. Alongside this omega 3 fish oil supplements could be very helpful.

Thank you erika,

I have tried omega 3 fish oil, but I have probably not been faithful enough. I haven't tried the elimination of various foods.

Food for thought!

the diet recommended which has the above suggestions plus a lot more info is the Feingold diet. This can be found in the book E for Additives by Maurice Hannssen.

nancy,

our son who is 18 has had exact same symptoms. We have not found traditional ADD medicines to be effective for him. Found a Homeopathic practitioners in our area who sounds optimistic about the treatment.
