persistant chalazion cyst Page 4 of 4

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I would recommend not trying anything else and stick to hot compressors 3 to 4 times a day, each time keep it for around 20 minutes. Sometimes there are consequences with trying other methods...
Make sure you massage the eyelid and cyst often + clean the eyelid edges with baby shampoo to open the tiny holes . Take fish oil and be patient and persistent. I will try emailing later today.

I am 50 yr old women. Dealt with challzion for a good year. First one, I gave up after 4 months and then got it surgically removed, but just then my other eyelid started to develop the cyst. The doctors are useless and tend to say if compressors don't work for a month than you got to get it surgically removed. Surgery was awful, i never wanted to go through again. I self educated myself and after 6 months finally got rid of the other challzion. In the process of experimentation I started to develop multiple challzion and styes in this other eye.. Eventually i decided to stick to what I have told you to do. Very frustrating process and feared it would never go away, but it did. Since June 2012 I have been challzion free....I know the signs of another one developing and at that time start up the routine to stop another popping up. So far it's been working.....

well my doctor said my cyst or challazion is too small to operate ,& he prescribed me an ointment & eyedrop & asked me to come after 1 month before that also (when i visited previous time)he told me to come after one month & prescribed me the same thing i thought the surgery will be good so i didn't apply anything & saw that my one cyst became small & doctor checked it found it too small to operate .

now i jst wnt to ask u if my cyst shows no improvement what is he going to do as he can't operate it because of its small size is he going to give me steroid injection? or should i ask him about stroid injctn

It seems you are not making the necessary effort to get rid of the challzion and would rather that it get large so the doc can surgically remove it. All I can say is that having gone through surgery once I never want to go through that again. It's risky and you are awake through the whole process. Before I went through the procedure i too would have rather have the doc just remove the stupid thing as I was tired of working so hard. Ultimately its your decision. I was never offered injection as a solution and cannot advice you as my research and experience on it is very minimal. Earlier I had sent u an email...

Hi, I've been reading this forum because I've had a persistent chalazion cyst for almost 4 months now, and a new one started forming the other day. I've tried just about everything and I read something here last week that I wanted to share. Use Ginger, it is amazing! I didn't think it would work but was willing to try anything. Here is what I do: I use a hot compress with epsom salts, and keep warming the water to keep it on my eye for up to almost an hour (not just 15 minutes). Then, I very thinly slice a small piece of ginger and hold it to my eyelid for almost half an hour or longer until it dries up. It is absolutely a miracle - my cyst flattened out in one day, almost the first treatment. After all these months, I wish I heard of ginger working sooner, but thank YOU to whoever posted it on this forum. I think ginger is some kind of miracle root!

Ginger is an absolute miracle!!! Thank you to who posetd that information, I've tried everything I've read about and this is the only thing that worked for me, and in one day. Thank you!

I never used ginger the way you mentioned maybe that is why it didn't work in my case. Hopefully I will never need to test it out ... LOL

Hello,
I'm French so please excuse my bad english...
I have had a chalazion for about a month now. I'd started treating it with hot compresses, and then I added epsom salt to the boiled water that I've been using to the compresses. It seems that the chalazion isn't red and big as it was before, but I still have a pea-sized 'stony' cyst on my eyelid. I'm really interested about the ginger treatment, could someone give me more details about it ?
Thank you ver much !

Hi, Sounds like you are doing the right thing with the hot compress and epsom salts. I did that, but eventually I kept the hot compress on my eyelid for up to 45 minutes or more...just watching tv, while I kept boiling the water over and over again (because it gets cold quickly). After the hot compress, I sliced a very very thing slice of ginger, and held it onto my eyelid. It stings, especially when I pressed on it but the stinging felt good because I assumed it was working! My cyst flattened out after this treatment and I kept up with it another few days. I hope this works for you!

Thank you ! I'll try to do so, and keep you aware of the result !
PS : Some people here in France told me that applying honey on the eyelid could help. Has anyone tried ?

I've had two chalazions removed surgically. I had a new one develop last July. It was hard but not painful. I finally decided to have it removed, but found this forum during a search for remedies. I started using a standard over the counter eyewash (the sort with the cup you place over the eye) and the chalazion began to shrink, but did not go away totally. I added the Epsom salt compress and after two days it became soft and my eyelid became swollen and sore... The chalazion was draining! I know you're not supposed to squeeze, but when I saw the exact drainage channel on my lash line, I 'massaged' it profusely and gunk came out each time. Two weeks later, no chalazion! I just use the eye wash each night to irrigate my eyes.

I have getting continuous chalazions now on my left eye for the past 3 years, and have been through 5 HORRIBLE surgeries. The doctor didnt want to get rid of them all at once, so he suggested one at a time because he thought the freeze needles would be too painful. Well, even one at a time was pure hell. The deep jabbing of the needles into my eye lids in multiple areas made me cry in the most gargantuan pain, that I had to squeeze the nurses hand hard enough to cut off her curculation.Once the lid was frozen, the doctor took a metal clamp and flipped my eyelid inside out, poked a hole into the yellow pus bag, and began scooping out the ugly lipid lump with a tiny metal pik.I was bruised for a few days, but finally ,the chalazions left, one by one. Bad news after all the pain.....they came right back!

I then read posts on the internet about getting rid of chalazions without having to resort to another surgery from hell. When I heard from one of the commentators, that Epsom salt did the trick, I thought ,why not, nothing to lose. So I went out and bought epsom salts from the 99 cent store, poured about 1/4 cup into a bowl, added same amount of water, and microwaved the whole thing until it was good and hot. I then took a small empty spice jar (the kinds you get at supermarket when you buy dried oregano etc)filled it with water, microwaved that uncovered of course (or it might explode) took it out,put the lid tightly on, got a CLEAN cotton washcloth, dipped it into the Epsom salt/water mix, and wrapped it around the spice bottle of hot water. I then applied it to my chalazions. I did this for 30 minutes, twice a day for about 4 days. Sure enough, the goop that oozed from calazion made my vision foggy upon waking up in the morning, but guess what.....it WORKED!!!! Chalazions gone! I also make extremely sure to keep my eye very clean at all times, no eye make up, no creams near the eye, no touching or rubbing eye etc...and of course lots of constant washing with soap (maybe I do it in excess, but Im so traumatized by this experience, that I guess im desperate). I just want to say the chalazions went away, and these buggers have been sitting on my eye for over a year, and the trick was the Epsom salts.Thank you,to whoever suggested it. For once in a long time, I feel like I got some control of my life back! :)

Glad to hear Moona... I had one surgery and yes I too remember the horror and appologizing to the nurse as my finger nails clawed into her palms while the doctor performed surgery. I did not have the nerve to go back for another surgery but it forced me work hard to pursue the methods discussed on this site. It took months and months and months of hard work and finally the stupid thing went away. Now, usually when I am greatly stressed, I know how to manage if I see signs of another developing -- overnight I can get rid of it. Now after about 1+ year of being Chalazion free, I have started to finally put creams and some eye makeup thankfully. Also have eased up with everything related to the eye but do cleanse the inside of my eyelid and eyelid with baby shampoo whenever I shower to ensure there are no blockages. I thought this day will never come.

Another trick I learned:. Heat half a bottle of water in bottled water bottle. Can heat in microwave. Put bottle on eyelid, it retains heat for a nice long time plus no drippings. Heat time is just a few seconds I think. Can use any bottle...

Thank you so much'clariteyes' (Robert) for the "one more thing" concerning chalazions, about fatty stuff the body disposes of this way! That ends my worries. In my case i was already suspecting the Ghee with which i had just replaced butter (causing skin trouble elsewhere). Then the chalazions came, four in a row. I admit overdoing the Ghee in my enthousiasm having found an enjoyable source of vitaminD that does not cause me stomach pain.
One more thing from me: i blame chacolat (fatty stuff!)for mouche volante, black spots vloting around inside the eyeball and in your vision). Thanks again,

OMG Thank you so much for posting the Epson Salt solution!!! This is my 2nd chalazion, the first one never got away with warm compress and cleaning the lids with baby shampoo and had the operation done.
When I saw that I had a second chalazion , I was so upset and afraid! I tried the epson salt 4 times today and already see a huge improvement! The eye lids are not so swollen anymore and the bump isnt as annoying as it was this morning!! I will provide an update in the next few days.
