2-yrs-old sleeps badly Page 10 of 15

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi Magicure,

Julius has been sleeping better last two nights.

On monday he slept until 3 am.
On tuesday, last night, he cried twice around 1 am, but after that he slept in his own bed until morning.
Better than for weeks!

He has also eaten well during past days. And he really is giving up milk. He hardly drinks it 200 ml a day (before he drunk 400-500 ml a day.)

The skin is "uneven", but not itcy or red. I gave antihistamin only once on sunday, not after that.

The stool has not been hard yesterday or day before. He even passed stool to the potty, voluntarily, two days in a row.

One new thing I have also noticed: in the evening when going to sleep, he wants to be covered. Before he was kicking the cover off.

There is also one negative thing coming along during past weekend: he cries a lot when going to bed at night. He doens't want to be left alone to the room, but he wants someone to stay there as long as he falls asleep. And that takes a looong time...
Before he stayed at bed quietly awake.

Hi Magicure,

We have been back at home for five days. I have been waiting for the routine to be able to describe how the nights are going.

During the holiday Julius slept two nights well. Then he was coughing after swimming in a cold water and his nose was blocked, then we had a night flight back to home and .... the nights have been a mess.

Now everything is back to normal, but he has not been sleeping well. Last three nights he has been itching. The legs are very dry (because of swimming?), but I can't see any excema. Tonight I will sure give him antihistamine because of that.
He has been scratching between 2 am and 4 am continuously.
Some nights he has had nightmares.
The worst thing is that he is sleeping all night only with the pacifier.
Soooo.... nights are just slightly better when comparing to the nights before Calcarea.

One other thing: I want to ask about my older son. Sometimes he is behaving really badly. Teasing, disobeying, hitting, yelling etc. Real demon takes place in him...
I gave once Causticum because of earwax and suprisingly noticed, that afterwards he was much easier to handle during following three weeks. I repeated the dosing (30 c only once) three times during three months. It helped the situation 70 %. On the fourth time it didn't help anymore.

After that I have discovered maybe homeopathics could help him. I had never before thought there would be a remedy to help him to control himself and calm the emotions down a bit.

Now I have been studying Lachesis and I feel it would be worth trying on him.
I happen to have 200 c at home. How many times I should give it to him? Only once or three days in a row?

Waiting for you replies what I should do with both of my sons.

Hi Maria,

About Julius: Lets wait for a few more days so that we can assess the effect of Calcarea in a better way.

Regarding his elder brother (I am sorry, I forgot his name)if there was a definite improvement after Causticum, but if that potency has stopped helping, go to the higher potency. Give him Causticum 200 and see how it goes.

Take care...

Hi Magicure,

Julius has been still sleeping terribly: we wakes up every two hours, cries even if the pacifier is in the mouth, wants me to hold him tight. I think he is having nightmares.

But there was been other major changes a week ago.
- There is another boy of exactly same age. He is much bigger and very physical. Julius has always been afraid of him. When the other children have playd together, Julius wanted to stay with me downstairs.
Last sunday a week ago for the very first time they were playing together. Julius was seeking his company.
- Before the holiday Julius said he doesn't enjoy school much and he missed me. (teachers say that wasn't true and he looked happy). Last monday when I came to pick him up he smiled and said "mama, it was so much fun at school"!". Same happened every day whole week.
- Before he hated to be outside at school at a small playground. He always stayd by the teacher holding her hand.
Now this last week, when I came to pick him up, he was running around the playground and playing. The friend was his own brother, but still, he has not done it before. Not even with the brother.
- Last monday Julius said that he doens't want have a diaper at school. (before he has refused to go the toilet at school). He had dry pants twice.
I have also left out the diaper while shopping or at car. With good success.

For an outsider these may seem small things. But I consider them major changes.

There was a reason for the itching. He had very weird skin last week: big white pimples during a couple of days. I think it was some kind of virus infection, even though he was not sick otherwise.

Hi Maria,

I am sorry to hear about Julius not sleeping well. But the other improvements are undoubtedly great!!

Can you wait for a few more days? I dont think we should disturb the action of Calcarea at this point.

If the situation gets any worse, we can always intervene.

How is his brother doing? Please let me know.

Take care...

Hi Magicure,

The nights are really, really terrible. Last night he woke me up at least 10 times. Lots of crying, very restless.

I don't remember when I have slept more than two hours continuously last time... I don't think it gets worse. If they are not getting better it's better to intervene.

He got conjuctivitis last weekend: there is a lot of discharge coming during the night from the eyes. A little bit of redness.

I bought Causticum 200 but have not given it yet. I have waited because Jasper (4years 8 months) is having discharge from the nose.

He has had nose running past 2 months. After one month I asked help here but no-one answered. Then I gave him pulsatilla, then silicea. Didn't help.
Then I bought from pharmacy some allopathic medicine that the homeopath in the pharmacy recommend. Didn't help much.
Now I am giving some nosedrops... started two days ago.

The "formula" of the discharge has changed during my treatments. First it was sticky, didn't come out, he was also coughing lots during the nights...
Now it is yellow, when sneezing it comes a lot and especially after waking up, comes easily out.

Do I have to wait until this is over or can I give causticum? Otherwise he seems to be healhy. I would like to give it immediately, he is getting to my nerves.
Do you have any suggestion I should do?

Maria

Hi Magicure,

A miracle happened 4 nights ago: Julius started sleeping. Out of the blue.

He was sleeping terribly many, many weeks. Last wednesday-night he woke at least 10 times and in the morning he woke up 5.40 am. I thought I wait one more night before I write you.

On thursday night he woke up at midnight, but slept till morning.
On friday night he woke first time at 4 am.
Saturday-night was worse, but we were out late and evening was different. He woke 4 times.
Sunday- night he slept until 6 am.
I am happy again - finally I have been able to sleep :-)

He still likes school. Teacher also said he has started playing with other children.
The skin is a bit dry. No other complaints.

About Jasper: I gave him Causticum 200 yesterday. Let's see.

I do worry about his cold (or whatever is the mucus and discharge from nose). It certainly is not normal. I'm afraid I have to take him to a doctor and I am quite certain he will be given antibiotics.
Antibiotics are not my first option. Please, what do you suggest I should do? Any remedies that don't mix the effect of Causticum?

Maria

Hi Maria,

Nice to hear that Julius is been sleeping well.

About Jasper, please post his acute complaints in detail, and we shall give him something for his cold.

1. Onset: Since when is he having cold, what started it?

2. Aggravated by ( warm room/ open air/ bath/ night....)

3. Ameliorated by

4. Any other complaints apart from cold ( fever/ cough/ gastric disturbances/ headaches/ irritability....)

5. Discharge: colour, consistency, odor, easy to blow? sneezing?

6. Tongue coating and thirst since this acute complaint

Please write anything else that you feel is significant.

Take care...

Hi Magicure,

1. Oneset: He cought a cold in the beginning of April. He had coryza and fever, it lasted over a week. We even visited hospital, because I was so sure he has sinusitis. They took 4 bottles of blood and told he "just" has a virus and needs no treatment.

He has had nose blocked and running ever since. At first I tried kali bic 30 for a few days. Didn't help. Once, a month ago, I gave him Pulsatilla 1 m and Silicea 1 m (I know, too strong, but I happened to have them at home). Didn't help.

Sometimes he is coughing during the nights. Two-three weeks ago he was coughing a lot, several hours in a row, at nights. I gave cough syrop (pulsatilla, rumex, bryonia, ipec, sticta, spongia, antimonium tart, myocarde, coccus, drosera) for 4-6 nights. It removed the cough almost fully.
It is loose cough.

2. Aggravation: worse in late nights and mornings. Nose is blocked in the mornings.

3. Amelioration: I don't know. It is all the time same. He is blowing his nose every hour.

4. Complaints: not every day, but far too often he complaints headache on the forehead. It is normal for him.
I also think his eyes look tired. But he doesn't complain.

5. Discharge: it is yellow or green. Difficult to blow. No smell. Once in a while it it clear. Then there is a lot of it and it is easy to blow.

Since yestarday I have been trying to rinse the nose with saltwater.
First there came a lot of dry blood out (he has had nosebleeding in April and May, but I have given a couple of times ferr phos 6x when it bleeds), a lot of sticky green stuff came out.
Second time there came so sticky green stuff out that it was stretching up to 20 cm... nice.

6. Tongue is clear. He is not thirsty. Maybe he drinks less than before.

Two weeks ago I also bought some allopathic syrop that was supposed to dry the discharge. It helped a bit, made the mucus easier to blow out, but now the whole problem is back. The antibiotic nose drops I dried last week didn't help at all.

I also thought if it were allergy. But when we had a holiday in Greece, there was no improvement.

I feel (I am such a homedoctor..-:) it is chronic sinusitis. I have tried everything I can.

Okay Maria,

Please give him Kali bich 30, 4-5 pills two times a day for three days , and stop.

Stop medicine if the symptoms change/ aggravate, and post here immediately.

Are you currently giving him Causticum? If yes, since when? how many times a day?

I would suggest that let him first get better from this cold, and then we can start with causticum again. I dont advocate the idea of administering Constitutional during an acute episode.

Let me know how it goes,

Take care...

Hi Magicure,

I gave Causticum 200 c last week. Once. (Didn't you advice to give it only once? You advice otherwise?)

At first I was thinking of taking care of the cold first. But I really got tired of the attitude of the boy. Secondly, the cold is not "acute" anymore.

I'll give kali bic tonight for the first time. I'll let you know.

About Julius: Last night was not as good as previous nights. Once he cried at sleep, then he was long awake around 3 am and finally woke up at 6.30 complaining to be still tired.

Maria

Hi Maria,

Causticum 200 once is fine. Let me know how he feels after kali bi. We will decide the further course of action then.

About Julius: Is this the first time that Julius complained of being "tired" after getting up in the morning? Or does he always wake up unrefreshed?

magicure last decade
Hi,

About Julius: All this winter and spring it has been difficult to get him to bed at nights. It seems he refuses to get to bed. Like he tries to be awake. I have wondered if he is afraid of nightmares or something..?

Because of that he has always been waking up slowly. He is often a bit unrefreshed. Now wonder, because he falls at sleep so late.

What is totally new, are these early wake-ups. Before he has been sleeping in. Never before in his life he has been waking up at 6 am.

Hi Magicure,

About Jasper: I have given him 3 dozes of Kali bi 30c. Just about to give the fourth doze.

The discharge has changed. It is not as yellow, not as thick. Not green at all. But he has to blow his nose as often as before.

Tomorrow is the third day of Kali bi. Do I continue giving it?

About Julius: last night was good. He slept until 4 am.

Maria

Maria&boys last decade
Hi Maria,

About Jasper:
Wait and watch now. Since the reaction is already set, we wont disturb the action of the remedy now. Keep posting about his condition.

About Julius: Happy for you !!

Take care...

magicure last decade
Hi Magicure,

We are not doing fine.

Julius has been sleeping badly last four nights. Keeps waking 4 times a night. Seeking for the pacifier.
He also has excema on legs and they are itching.

Jasper's cold is continuing. The discharge is more liquid and less yellow as before (then it was sticky, thick and dark yellow).
But: the nose is still blocked at nights (Julius is not the only one who keeps me awake..), he has to blow several times, clearly the nose keeps bothering him.
I haven't given him anything for 4 days. Right after giving Kali B he got better, but now he is going worse again.

I gave him Kali bi 6-7 weeks ago. Then I had the same response: a bit better, but too little.

HI Maria, I am the mum that sympathised with you some time ago - the one with the little girl who woke regularly too. We have been using arnica in the last few days and at the most, she is waking once - see "Desperate for sleep". I dont know whether you have tried this (?). Hope this info helps. All the best Maria. I really pray that you get some good sleep soon - I know how you feel.

Hi Maria,

Please post Jasper's present symptoms.

Its good that the discharge is no more stringy and dark yellow.

Apart from blocked nose and thin discharge, what other symptoms does he have? ( thirst, fever, bodyache, headche, digestive problems, apetite, sneezing, cough etc...)

magicure last decade
Hi Magicure,

Jasper's situation is back where we started. The discharge is again thicker and slightly green (no clear at all). He has to blow his nose a lot in the morning : there is so much discharge that I keep wondering how a small person can produce that much.

He keeps coughing, specially late night/early morning.
After kali bi he has not complained headache, not anymore.

Otherwise I don't see any other problems.

Hi bels mama,

Thanks for information. I have to read your thread.
No, we have not tried Arnica. Right now Calcarea has given really good results, but I appriciate any of info I can use in the future.

Good luck for you, too!

Hi Maria,

I am sorry to hear that Jasper is not doing well.

So, Kali is helping, but its effect is not long lasting.

Please give him Kali bich 30, 4-5 pills two times a day for three days. After 3 days, post EVERYTHING about his condition, and we shall decide about the further course of action then.

In any( cold/fever/cough/diarrhoea/ear ache...) acute totality, you should ALWAYS write about all the symptoms in detail ( with aggravating, ameliorating factors and other complaints apart from the chief complaint)
Also mention about thirst, coating on tongue, appetite, bowel movements, perspiration, fever etc...

If you cover all this info in your post, we can save time in question-answers and start with the treatment at once.

Take care...

Hi Magicure,

He is not "sick", except this running nose. He eats as well as always, doens't perspire more than normally (which is never), he has not had fever since this all started in April.

Little changes: What it comes to the tongue, it is whitish (not strongly white), he drinks less than before (he has been drinking only one juice at school, even if I give him two bottles), he passes stool quite frequently, at least once a day, sometimes even four times. It is good, maybe more soft than hard.
Maybe he is tired to some extent.
And he has had occasionally head ache in front (not since last week). Not that bad that he would have needed medicine.

I don't know it this has something to with the picture, but he has been difficult to handle for a couple of months - now I think he has been difficult since he was sick at the first time! (That's why I gave him Causticum, but I don't think it helps this time).
He doesn't want to compromize, he keeps teasing others. He also thinks that I am not fair, even if that is not true. Himself he thinks he is always right.
He has been so furious a couple of times that he has started hyperventilating because of crying and yelling too much.

About aggravation/ amerlioration I can just describe that he blows his nose most in the mornings, then the discharge is very thick, yellow and green.

I don't start kali bi yet. I wait for your next posting.
