Joe: will this cause dryness on her face? She has VERY oily skin that is usually shiny.

I started her on the Silicea yesterday.

hey everybody, I've been suffering from acne since the age of 14. I am now 18 and sick and tired of waking up to zits and pimples on my face. I thougtht to my self that my body is trying to tell me something, my diet isnt realy so good, so I decided to go on a 3 day apple fast. I will eat nothing but red apples and water for 3 days to help clean out my system. have any of you tried this method and found success? if, so please reply and tell us your story. wish me luck.

Okay Cindy JD,

I totally understand what your daughter is going through, and I just want to say we are all here to help you and her. I know support (whether it is helpful or not) always raises my spirits. Keep doing what Joe says. I also have something of my own to recommend. Well...first of all, does your daughter have any acne anywhere besides her face???

You may want to try this solution: Take one part tea tree oil, one part eucalyptus oil, and one part witch hazel. For your daughter's face, I would have her put some on her hand, then put it on her face. The fumes can cause eyes to burn or water, but that usually goes away within 5-10 minutes. The oils can be a bit pricey, but they've helped me. If you decide to try this, please keep me posted on the results. Note: Shake the solution well before you use it.

Chavez88,

Whoa,

Hold on a second, where did you read that an 'apple fast' is a good idea??? I really don't think that's the best way to go, as apples don't supply a lot of VERY IMPORTANT NUTRIENTS!!! Like, for example: Calcium, protein, many many vitamins and minerals, calories.... I would read this thread very carefully, as there have been many suggestions in here that have worked for different people.

Best of luck!

Sally: I stopped the arnica & silicea today, her face was the worst I have ever seen!

I have an oil with the ingredients mentioned so I going to try to get her face calmed down.

This is very disappointing. :(

Thanks for your support.

CindyJD!

Arnica normally helps in many cases.

Acne may be due to hormonal problem also. So, you give details like any problems with periods (painful, irregular etc)to enable the homeopaths to read more into your daughter's problem. Don't loose your hope on homoepathy. Sally is an example.

Hi Cindy

If i were you i would take your daughter to a registered homeopath nearby that can take a full case history and recommend a more constitutional treatment for her acne. This is the way to go to get long term results.

carlotta last decade
My daughter has had this problem since she was 10, it has progressively gotten to the point you see in the pictures.

How do I fina a registered homeopath in my area? I don't see any listings in the phone book.

Cindy JD!

you haven't answered whether your daughter has any menstrual problem or not.

muruganrsa last decade
No she hasn't; she has had her period for about a year, she gets crabby, but no cramps, etc.

I thought your mention of it was rhetorical.

Cindy JD!

I don't understand why you have used the word rhetorical. I don't think I have meant anything wrong. I am only trying to help. Acne is due to many problems. The presence of acne in females may be an important sign of an underlying endocrine (hormonal) problem.

Have a look at the website:
http://www.hormonehelpny.com/column/femaleacne2.htm

http://www.midlife-passages.com/page112.html

http://healthcenter.ucdavis.edu/selfcare/acne.htm

See also the thread in this forum for example.

Teenage girls are more prone to hormonal problems. And most probably, they will have ireregular periods. Thats what I really meant. Homeopathy treats the real cause and not the symptoms. I can give you quite a number of websites and information.

Hi Cindy,

Did the oil you put on your daughter's face help calm it down at all, or is it still just as bad? Does she have acne anywhere besides her face? I have another suggestion. (I've tried so many different things for my acne, and I finally have it under control. Not gone, but under control) If you find the tea tree solution doesn't help, you can try GENTLY scrubbing her face with sea salt (get the highest quality you can find with nothing added) twice a day. This helps get rid of the infection and also helps improve the overall texture of the skin. For now, you can start right away using whatever salt you have in the house. But I would like to stress the GENTLY part of this. If you scrub too hard, it can make the skin very raw which is not a good thing, as it will make it hurt, and look much worse, as well as open the skin to further infection. Please keep us posted on the results. I know how frustrating acne can be, and I, and everyone else participating in this discussion, would like to help your daughter as much as possible. It would be very helpful if you could keep posting pictures as you try different things.

God Bless,

Sally

Give her causticum 30c one dose in the morning and with a atleast a gap of three hours eah give her two doses of borax 30c(one at 11a.m other at 4p.m.) and one dose of sepia 30c at night.
This I am sure will help in drying of her acne

Rajuk,

If you are reffering to Joe De Livera, he has been banned from the site. I'm not quite clear on what your question was though.

Hi Sally, nice to see you after a lon time. I don't know if you remember me (remember we discussed about salt water baths for acne. How is your acne noe. Are you still taking Arnica wet dose?

RajuK, Take Arnica 30c in a wet dose 3-4 pellets in 500ml water for about two weeks or until you see some improvement. Then come down to lower potency ie Arnica 6c again 3-4 pellets in 500ml water.
All the best

Hi Talat,

It's nice to be back. I've been pretty busy these past months. I am still taking Arnica, and my acne is doing very well. Thank you for asking. How about you, are you doing well?

I also came to this board just 4-5 days back after a long time. For some reason Arnica wet dose stopped working for me after a month and I got acne worst than before so I just stopped taking it. I am not doing anything now and surprisingly it is getting better by itself. Have you tried Epsom salt bath for your acne?
How did you know that Joe is banned on this board?
All the best for your studies.

Talat last decade
Talat,

I have not tried Epsom salt baths. What exactly is Epsom salt? My facial acne has improved signifcantly, but I am still having some problems with my back. It is also improving though. To answer your question, Joe and I have stayed in touch via email, and he informed me that he had been banned from ABC.

Arnica should only be used in small dosages internally. It may cause cause dizziness. If you are using the Acrnica externally remember to keep your dosages to a minimum or there will be more damage to your skin...such as irritation or skin peeling.

Muser1 last decade
To Muser

You have resurrected a very old thread which dates back to March 2006 on which I was prescribing to many patients suffering from Acne.

You state:
'Arnica should only be used in small dosages internally. It may cause cause dizziness. If you are using the Acrnica externally remember to keep your dosages to a minimum or there will be more damage to your skin...such as irritation or skin peeling.'

I wonder what made you think that Arnica is used in a manner other than in what you term 'small doses'. This is a Homeopathic Forum and all homeopathic remedies are not only in small doses but they are in INFINITELY SMALL DOSES. A 6c potency is the potentized equivalent of 1 million millionth of the original Q or Mother Tincture. It must also be clearly understood that all Homeopathic remedies are invariably used INTERNALLY. I have however advised Arnica 6 in the Wet dose to be used directly on the pimples as it helps to dry them out usually in about 6 hours. Someone stated that a very quick response was observed a few days ago on a baby's rash.

There is absolutely no danger whatever of any 'more damage to your skin...such as irritation or skin peeling.'

It is best that you only advice patients on this Forum if you have the experience to do so which I can see from your post, you sadly lack.

Joe De Livera last decade
Hi Joe!

I have read this entire thread and am very interested in a homeopathic remedy for my acne. I feel like I actually know you and Sally from reading all your posts back and forth. I, too, was very impressed with the way she discussed the topic at only 13 years old. Then, I was so sad when I read that you had been banned, but I am so happy to see you here again! :)

I understand that your suggestion to Sally was to dissolve 3 pellets of Arnica 30c in 500 ml. of spring water and to take one teaspoon twice daily. Then, once it is healing (and once you say so) to switch this remedy to Arnica 6c.

I am wondering if my situation might be a little different from Sally's, though, because I am a 26 year old woman. I have had acne for just over 10 years, and admittedly, I do use lancets to relieve the pressure of the outbreaks. Once I feel like I have another option, I will most certainly stop this practice as I understand it spreads the infection.

I break out around my jaw line with cysts and pimples that form under the surface but do not appear to have a white head. I also break out on the sides of my face, near my ears, and these pimples almost always heal in a day or two after I poke the head with a lancet and relieve the pressure. If I sweat and am wearing a ball cap, I will break out from the rubbing of sweat against my forehead. I have also been breaking out with more daily pimples on my forehead within the last several months. One of my biggest problems, though, is with the pimples on my chin that seem to go away and reappear in the same places. I don't think they ever truly go away. I get a few under and around my nose every once in a while, too. I wake up every morning with between 1 and 5 new white heads that I can sometimes just poke and they will go away that day. Other times, I wake up with inflamed pimples that do not go away.

I have EXTREMELY oily skin and have been treating with either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for as long as I've had acne. I wear a partial mask of a benzoyl peroxide over-the-counter treatment at night to help with the oil, which I've been doing for a couple years. This has minimized the number and severity of pimples I wake up with.

I have been dabbling in homeopathy (mostly for my two dogs) for only a short time, and it has just recently occurred to me that I should look into a homeopathic remedy for my acne. Since I've had the acne for so long, it's just become a part of who I am and what I deal with. I have just come to accept it, but I would like very much to get your expert opinion about my condition. I can't imagine living without my acne, but I sure would love it if that happened.

GranolaGirl last decade
To Granolagirl

Yours seems to be a chronic case of Acne which is unusual at your age and it would be interesting to observe if my standard therapy can help you.

I have since modified the therapy in the light of reports I received from patients and now prescribe Arnica 6c in the Wet dose which you will make precisely according to the instructions below. You will take 2 doses daily and will also apply the remedy water directly on your face on the tips of your fingers as often as is possible to accelerate the cure. You will take precautions not to contaminate the water in the bottle by any back flow.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

Report progress weekly or earlier if you discover any change in your outbreaks.
