Lower potencies dont cure ?

Only higher potencies for mental symptoms ?

There are no such rules in homeopathy. Only fundamental principles. Prescribing with such rules and preconceived notions that undermine and contradict the fundamental principles mostly brings trouble.

cure can take place even by a single dose of 6c. It all boils down to the sensitivity of the patient as every case is different and every individual unique.

Hi, a couple of things:
Thunderstorms no longer seem to aggravate, so i would call that a past symptom.

And no sooner had I said that he wasn't sweating on the scalp at the moment, but he sweat profusely on his scalp during his nap this afternoon!

You didn't include:
- affectionate
- needy
- ear: fluid trapped
- loves meat
- loves water
- loves pictures & visual stuff
- wilful and stubborn
- defiant
- enjoys attention
- playful, likes being silly
- wary of strangers
If you can find any of them in the repertory, they may help clear the picture???

Also, I know you don't put a lot of weight on appearance, but if it helps nail down a remedy, I will give you some stand out details.

Immediately noticeable about him:
- strong, robust physique. Not fat at all, but belly protrudes.
- dimples and big smile
- prominent forehead
- short in height with large head
- very fine, curly mop of hair
- big, bright, blue eyes
- very smooth, fair, clear complexion with lots of veins visible, in particular on his right temple.
- very red lips and tendency to flush in cheeks
- vascular birthmark on throat

Affectionate: Calc, Carc, Lach, Puls, Phos, Sil
Consolation amel; Puls, Phos, Sil, Carc
Meat desires; Calc, Carc, Lach, Phos, Puls
Water loves: Calc, Carc, Phos, Sil, Puls

Rest of the symptoms are not quite repertorizable as they are very general.

I think, we can safely rule out Lachesis for now, and if he is perspiring profusely on the head during sleep, my choice would be between Calcarea and Silicea. Do you have any symptom above which is like 'keynote/trademark' of his and that we we can decide between the two ?

sameervermani last decade
He likes having his head covered - hats and hood. I guess this is quite unusual. Most kids pull their hats off, but he puts his on, and sometimes gets quite upset if it falls off.

Gosh I can't think of anything else very specific that I haven't already told you, but perhaps something will come to me if I keep it in my mind.

littlefinn last decade
How come you haven't included lyc in the above picture? I thought some of those symptoms would have corresponded with lyc.

There is also his tendency to repeat himself over and over again.

He likes sour stuff like lemons.

The green vegetable thing is very prominent. He has NEVER liked green vegetables, unless they're totally disguised. The only green thing I've ever seen him happily eat is avocado and that's a fruit anayway.

littlefinn last decade
I havent included Lyc because it should have done more when it was given as it is an extremely deep and quick acting remedy, and moreover, it is NOT AN option now, as it cannot be administered after Sulphur. That is also I am ruling out Puls as it was tried many times even in LM scale.

Sulph-->Calc-->Lyc-->Sulph is the only sequence in which these remedies can be given. You cannot go from left to right in any of the links above.

Uncovering head agg. is a big time Silicea symptom. :)

So, for me the case gas tilted in favour of Silicea.

sameervermani last decade
I get what you're saying. However, I did think that lyc was yielding positive results - I know you are looking much more deeply than me, and with the wisdom of experience and knowledge, but for me I was so impressed that his ears did not flare up even after two viruses, and that seemed in part thanks to the lyc.

Silicea also didn't do enough when we gave it before, and didn't we give him 6, 12 and 30? I can't remember if we went up to 200, but I will look back over the thread.

littlefinn last decade
Yes, we went up to 30c, and then we went to lyc, and you specifically said that the reason why you wanted to change to lyc was because you expected silicea to have done a lot more by then.

littlefinn last decade
I am so confused!

I was thinking about it while we were out, and I think a couple of other strong trademarks of his would be:
- sucking his fingers. He still does this just as much as when he was a small baby. Middle two fingers on right hand. This sucking goes along with the biting. Both have always been characteristic of him.
- flirting with people. He loves to play games with strangers when we're out and about. He will do anything to get a reaction. It's very flirtatious. I often come home reporting to my husband that he just charmed the pants off every single person in every shop that we came across. And it's not like he even says anything to them. He just smiles and bats his eyelids, plays shy, giggles, makes faces, plays peek a boo, etc etc. I don't know what you'd call this, other than flirtatious, 'eager to engage', extroverted or highly social, but it's definitely a strong characteristic of his.

littlefinn last decade
Can you repertorize 'desire to have head covered', rather than the agg. from uncovering?

littlefinn last decade
Let us keep Puls, and Lyco out out due to reasons given before.

I think this child is more social than a Calcarea would be. I am going away from Calc because of the overall feel of the child which is not sluggish.

Remedies left are Lachesis, Silicea, Phos, and Carc.

Regarding his flirtatious and charming behavior, in repertory language, we call this 'flattering/seducing behaviour in children': It is present in all four :)

However, the head perspiration during sleep is there in Silicea only among these four.

Desire to have head covered is not a symptom which is found.

Putting fingers in mouth is there in both Calc and Sil.

Moreover if you would remember, I had said, we might come back to Silicea at some point of time but at that time, it's action was blocked by some layer. It is like a jigsaw puzzle especially with a young child where one has to and one should tread with extreme caution.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, that is fine. I understand what you're saying now.

So do we go to silicea 200c straightaway?

If ever you think I am being difficult, it is always easily remedied with a clear explanation. :) I just hate not understanding things!

littlefinn last decade
Go ahead with Sil 200c, 1 pellet in 250 ml spring water, and a teaspoon from there ONCE.

Not to be repeated.

Report in 10 days.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, will do.

littlefinn last decade
Hi Sameer. It's been 10 days since the sil 200c dose.

Please bear with me while I attempt to make some order of the messy notes I have taken during observing my son over the last 10 days.

Overall, there is a general improvement in his mood, but I would not call it a substantial one. Before the dose, he seemed to be in a irritated, whingy, clingy mood most of the time, which only improved with the right kind of stimulation and attention. Now we are seeing a good mood on the whole, which is punctuated by periods of irritation, whingy and clinginess. These periods are lasting from 1-3 hours at a time. We really noticed the improvement had come in by day 8, but then he was quite out of sorts again yesterday (day 9), so there is still a fair bit of oscillation.

His mood is most often aggravated in the afternoon, after his nap, as it always has been. At other times, he is ok after his nap and then becomes aggravated over dinner, and stays that way until he goes to bed.

His sleeping has improved, and he is generally waking 1-2 times a night for a cuddle or a drink of water. During the last 10 nights, we have had a few bad ones, where he woke several times and seemed to be very aggravated or upset about something. One only one occasion we resorted to paracetamol (about night 5 I think).

He continues to wake up cranky both morning and night, although we have noticed the intensity of this lessening over the past few days.

His appetite has improved greatly. In fact, if anything, he is eating more than usual. He is pretty much off dairy, and has only asked me for cheese ONCE since we gave him the dose. I must note that this was beginning to happen before the dose anyway, but it's become quite pronounced now. He is rejecting his cup of milk before bed MOST nights. He is not into his yoghurt much either. He is asking for and eating a lot of carbs - baked foods, bread, pasta, potatoes. He is also eating a lot of fruit. Last night he ate some broccoli - a small miracle! I have NEVER seen him do that before.

By around day 4 or 5, we noticed some discharges from his eyes and nose. He also had a few days of much looser bowel movements.

Day 6 he had a nasty nappy rash.

We also suspected he was suffering from heartburn for a few nights (perhaps a return of old symptom, or perhaps a reaction to the sausages he had for dinner for a two nights in a row).

His cheeks are still tending to flush a lot, particularly on the left side and particularly after his nap (when his mood is at its worst). This is a symptom we have seen over and over now ever since his ear infections started in Feb 08.

Something else we are noticing is that he is very fearful in general at the moment. This began before the sil 200c, and has not improved since. He is scared of things like water squirting out of one of his bath toys (new fear), the shower (new fear), big funny looking flowers (new fear), the vacuum cleaner (a fear he used to have in the past, but it went away), strange looking objects he hasn't seen before and feathers. He gets upset when I cut his nails and last night when I gave him a haircut he screamed and screamed as if he was being tortured. He was petrified! I have no idea why - I've only ever cut his hair once before and he wasn't bothered by it at all. In contrast, you can leap out at him from behind a door (in a way that would scare the pants off most people) and he will love it and laugh his head off.

One final observation is that he is very much into being wrapped up and covered, and doesn't seem to like being naked as much as usual. It could be that he is more sensitive to the cold at the moment, or it could be something else, but we have noticed that he gets quite aggravated after coming out of the bath when we have wrapped him up snugly in a towel - he loves it and will get upset if some of the towel is removed or falls off. He wants it wrapped around his entire body and head, and even likes his face to be partially covered.

I think that's about it!

Hi littlefinn,

There have been some improvements and not too many negatives, and hence, let us just wait and watch.

Please update in 1 week.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, thanks Sameer, I will.

littlefinn last decade
Hi Sameer. It's been another week, so I am updating as requested.

Improvements have continued in a subtle way as follows:

- There have been further improvements in his overall mood.
- On Thursday and Friday night he slept all night without waking, and did not cry the second he woke in the morning on both those nights/mornings.

The negative things that remain unchanged are as follows:

- His afternoon irritability is as bad as ever. He wakes unhappy from his nap, flushed cheeks and very clingy. He's at his worst for the better part of every afternoon.
- apart from the two nights I mentioned, he continues to wake at random times during the night, desperate for physical contact, and often quite early in the morning as well.
- He is still quite fearful and overly sensitive.

The positive things that we saw improve already, and have remained that way are:

- his appetite is great. He is eating most things, particularly fruit and bread. He seems to want to 'graze' all day. He is still off dairy on the whole.
- his bowel movements are fairly consistent and predictable.

We had a shocking day with him yesterday (Sunday), after a particulary interrupted night on Saturday night.

There is nothing else I can think of at this stage. What do you think?

littlefinn last decade
And, no sign of ear infection, I assume ?

sameervermani last decade
No sign of ear infection. No cold or virus now for a month either. We don't know whether he still has 'glue ear' or not, but I suspect yes, because he does still pull at and rub his ears quite often.

littlefinn last decade
Let us keep waiting then.

Glue ear should get resolved with Sil.

Update in another week.

sameervermani last decade
Ok. Talk to you then.

littlefinn last decade
Hi Sameer. It's been another week since I updated you, and 3.5 weeks since the sil 200c dose.

Things have been up and down all week.

There was no change for a few days. Then we had two very bad nights on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and had to give him paracetamol both nights. We don't know what was wrong, but he was very disturbed, and slept in bed with me one night because we had no other option. On Thursday night it appeared he was coming down with something. He sounded a bit blocked up, and his nose really runny and gross on Friday.

However, despite this, on Friday during the day he seemed to take a major leap forward mentally. His mood was better than it had been in weeks, and has remained so since then. He is not as fearful, he is much more independent again, and not as moody.

That night (Friday) and Saturday night he slept quite well, only waking once around 10.30pm for a really big drink of water. On Saturday he woke happy in the morning AND after his afternoon nap! His nose is still discharging, and he has a bit of a cough now, which developed on Sunday. He coughed a bit during the night last night (Sunday night). Last night was a bit disturbed.

His mood in the afternoon has also improved greatly since Friday. This is a huge thing for us.

His appetite is fluctuating and he is being quite picky about what he will and won't eat. Some days he seems like a bottomless pit and will eat everything and anything, and other days he is very difficult to please and just picks at bits and pieces.

We are also making some changes to his diet and reducing the amount of snack foods he consumes - replacing with fruit and milk as much as possible and giving him a lot more bread. He is currently still being very fickle about dairy, which used to be his favourite food.

His bowel movements are soft and healthy looking and coming every 1-2 days.

I have noticed a little bit of crusty discharge from his eyes and a few little red spots on his skin over the weekend.

What are your thoughts?

littlefinn last decade
Hi littlefinn,

The discharges were accompanied by a relief on the mental plane which tells me that the suppression of these discharges through allopathic medicines is being un-winded through the remedy.

I am still inclined to wait, as even the skin is starting to get discharges now.

It will be good to have Silicea 1M at hand, update me in another week.

sameervermani last decade
Ok. I will get hold of 1M this weekend.

His cough was playing up and bothering him in the first part of last night, but then seemed ok later on. Do you think the cough is part of this same 'unwinding of supressions'. One would think he just has a virus, but it certainly isn't hitting him like it usually does, and is very intermittent. Plus, his mood is great.
