Ok. I will get hold of 1M this weekend.

His cough was playing up and bothering him in the first part of last night, but then seemed ok later on. Do you think the cough is part of this same 'unwinding of supressions'. One would think he just has a virus, but it certainly isn't hitting him like it usually does, and is very intermittent. Plus, his mood is great.

[SV] Yes

Hi Sameer. It's been another week, and there are still changes happening.

The cough worsened for the next 24 hours after my last update, then it disappeared completely.

From Wednesday last week, he slept all night long without waking until last night (Sunday night) when he was quite disturbed again and woke several times (don't know why).

His mood has remained good to excellent, although he is having the occasional afternoon slump, after he wakes from his nap. This is not happening every day anymore, but probably once every 2-4 days.

His appetite continues much the same as last week. (some days he eats like a horse, other days hardly anything). He is still not interested much in dairy, other than cheese. He is eating a LOT of bread every day. He is off his breakfast (cereal, banana and milk) and can't seem to get enough fruit (mostly pears, apples and melon).

Late last week, and over the weekend, he had a lot of nasal discharge - it was different to usual: more of a yellowy brown colour with some blood in it occasionally. He has also had a bit of discharge from his eyes over the past few days, and a few little red spots popping up on his face and body since late last week.

Bowel movements are the same (on the soft side). He had a really foul one late last week, and also some nappy rash for a day around the same time as the nasal discharge and amelioration at night times.

What do you think?

Something I wanted to ask about also was immunisations. He is very, very overdue (missed his 12 months immunisations entirely and he's now 26 months old) and we have been wanting to catch him up for ages, but held off due to sickness and the process of homeopathic remedies. He is booked in this thursday for a catch up immunisation for hib and meningococcal. I am happy to postpone it again if you think it's best to wait. I definitely do not want to interrupt any of these good processes that are happening now. Please advise.

littlefinn last decade
Immunizations can certainly mess with this process and derail it as well.

Since the mood has been quite excellent overall (occasional nights where he wakes up a lot can be due to a lot of reasons and is not out of the ordinary in children of this age), I would continue to wait, and let Silicea work.

Update in another week.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, no problem. I will postpone the immunisations for a few months, and update you in another week. As always, thank you for your continuing support and advice. I feel like we are really nailing this now!!!

Hi Sameer,

It's not quite a week yet, but we are having a little issue that I wanted to let you know about.

On Tuesday night, we noticed his right eye was starting to discharge some yellow stuff. It was nothing too unusual, as sometimes it does that. Wednesday I had to wipe it a few times, and his left eye started doing it too, but not as much.

This continued until Friday when it suddenly got a lot worse. It looks like the beginning of conjunctivitis, but his eyeballs aren't actually red yet. Both eyes are discharging quite a lot now (Saturday morning), not just yellow stuff, but a lot of clear sticky liquid.

He doesn't seem bothered by it.

At the same time as this began to happen, he seemed slightly more irritable than he has been of late, and began waking more often at night time again. His mood in the afternoon is consistently bad again. He has a little bit of a runny nose and a very wet sounding cough (but not very bad).

I'm really not sure whether this is another action from the sil 200c or if he has caught something. I am holding off acting for now with anything allopathic, but if it gets worse, we might have to.

What do you think? Any ideas?

Hi Littlefinn,

Please give a dose of Puls 30 for this eye discharge.

1 pellet in 500 ml, and a teaspoon.

Report in 2 days.

Also, keep Silicea 1M at hand, as that will be the next step after this eye thing is under control.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, I can do that. It seems it has changed a little bit already this morning. There is no more yellow stuff coming out for the past few hours, just clear sticky liquid. Both his eyes look quite puffy with dark circles underneath them. I think that his tearducts are blocked. Does this change the remedy at all?

littlefinn last decade
Go ahead with Puls 30

sameervermani last decade
ok, done, thank you!

Hi Sameer, it's only been about 30 hours since the dose of puls 30c. I can't really tell whether things are improving or not yet. We had a very disturbed night and had to give him paracetamol because he just wouldn't settle down. We had to do that the previous night too - before the puls dose.

The discharge appeared to stop for a while yesterday (after the dose, but also after I bathed his eyes with salt water), but then started again in the evening. This morning again there is not discharge, but both his eyes look very sore, and his left eye is very red and bloodshot (and looks very much like conjunctivitis now). My husband wants to give him the antibiotic eyedrops, but I am trying to hold off to see if anything else changes. Not sure how long he will let me wait. His right eye was the bad one yesterday and today it looks better, but now the left eye is worse. I can't really tell whether it's going to get worse than it is now or if it is clearing up.

His mood isn't too bad, but he is clingy and not eating well. I really don't know whether his nighttime disturbance is due to discomfort from his eyes or something else. He still won't actually communicate with us when he's upset and tell us what exactly is hurting - it is all just a big mess of emotions for him.

Which is less damaging - to give him paracetamol for a few nights in a row, or to fix this with antibiotic drops (if it doesn't improve on it's own in the next 12 hours)?

littlefinn last decade
Hi littlefinn,

If things do not improve by 48 hours (from the Puls dose), please report back symptoms in detail, and I can recommend something.

Paracetamol will not hurt and can be used if necessary.

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer. It's been 48 hours. I would say the improvement has been very mild, if any. But it also hasn't worsened. His left eye is still very bloodshot on the outside white, and I know from having conjunctivitis myself that this is very painful. His right eye is clear (no red), but still discharging. The discharge seems to stop for most of the day, and then start again in the evening and during the first part of the night. It is light yellow and dries yellowy/green. The left eye does not seem to be discharging anymore.

Both eyes appear a bit puffy, with dark circles underneath. The left one is worse, and is a bit red around the eyelid (top and bottom).

He has a wet cough (not very frequent), is sneezing quite a bit, and has a little bit of a nasal congestion.

His mood seems perfectly normal all morning, and worsens in the afternoon/evening.

His appetite is low. His bowel movements are more firm than usual.

I can't think of anything else out of the ordinary.

littlefinn last decade
So, is there swelling on or around eyes lids ?

What is the status in general right now ?

sameervermani last decade
There seems to have been a bit of an improvement over the course of this morning actually. He is asleep right now, so I will have another look when he wakes, but I THINK that the redness may have reduced slightly on the right eyeball.

There is a bit of swelling and redness around the eyelids but only on the right eye. Both eyes look a little bit puffy beneath the eye.

littlefinn last decade
Okay, I think Puls will get us through this episode.

However, please update if things turn towards worse.

sameervermani last decade
Can we give more?

littlefinn last decade
I don't think it will be needed.

However, as I said, report back if situation worsens.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, will do, thank you.

littlefinn last decade
Sameer, I have just noticed a couple of things that are worth mentioning. Around the area of red on the white of his right eyeball, some tiny lumps are forming. You may remember last year when he had a flu and severe conjunctivitis, we ended up taking him back to the doctor when he got a big lump like that on the worst affected eye. I am just a bit worried about this, because although these lumps are tiny, they have only appeared this afternoon.

Also, when I was getting him ready for bathing tonight I noticed that his urine is smelling very strong. Quite ammonia-like. This is not normal for him. Is it a 'discharge' from the puls, or does it indicate puls?

His appetite has worsened throughout the day too, although his mood has remained ok. He has hardly eaten anything but bread today.

Any other thoughts on this?

Previous poster - this is a homeopathy forum! Meaning people who post here generally want homeopathic advice not surgery options or allopathic medicine!!! But thanks anyway.

Sameer, did you notice my last post or just busy, busy.

I think his eyes have improved a bit more overnight. However, we were up and down with him right through the night. He hardly ate any dinner and I think this low appetite thing is really screwing with his blood sugar. He was breathing really shallowly and he was shaky. He kept asking for water, but maybe he was just really hungry. He cried all morning until I basically had to forcefeed him breakfast (he has been rejecting breakfast lately, and we've been waiting a while and giving him toast a bit later on). He kept crying, but eventually relented and ate. He seems in a better mood now. Blood sugar issues run in the family - hypoglacaemia and the like - so I am concerned when he doesn't eat because he always seems a lot more fragile and irritable when he's hungry even on a normal day.

'You may remember last year when he had a flu and severe conjunctivitis, we ended up taking him back to the doctor when he got a big lump like that on the worst affected eye. '

^^Old symptoms do come back during treatment. In view of your most recent most, I am still inclined to wait it out.

I wouldn't worry about the blood sugar part, bad mood from hunger is just a symptom which will be useful in further analysis. It is there in many remedies and has little to do with sugar issues in the family. It will correct under homeopathic treatment.

sameervermani last decade
Ok. I will keep you posted.

Yeah, you're right, I know. I just worry about him. I don't know what kind of damage those fluctuating sugar and metabolic levels can do to such a small child. I just want him to eat normally - partly so we can get some decent sleep, but also to just get past the constant battles every single mealtime. Drives me up the wall!

littlefinn last decade
Sameer, I know why I'm worrying. I let you talk me out of it because what you say is rational and makes sense, but what is actually happening is mother's instinct. I start to worry when I pick up on the fact that things are worsening....

So over the course of the last few hours his mood has deteriorated completely. He is following me around, clinging to my legs, crying, wanting to be held. He cannot be consoled for more than a few minutes. He is totally listless.

I would normally want to console him, because he is behaving so pathetically, but I am just so frustrated right now, because I am supposed to be working today, but he cannot go to daycare with infected eyes, so we are quarantined at home - I have a million things to do and he won't let me do them.

He is pulling at his ears A LOT. I haven't seen him do this in a long while.

He also just had the most disgusting bowel movement. Quite soft, but mostly just a really, really offensive smell. He cried and cried while I was cleaning him up.

So while his eyes do appear to be on the mend, the rest of him isn't. And I'm afraid that it's going to get worse.
