Ok. I just wondered about calc-c, that's all.

Hi again Sameer. I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread or not for this one...

My son has been suffering terribly with teething for the last week or so. He has four molars all coming at once and he is unhappy both day and night. He is clingy and crying easily, waking a lot at night time in pain. Last night he went to bed at 7pm, woke at 8.45pm and we couldn't get him back to sleep until 11.30pm! He was upset the whole time. Is there something we can give him to calm him and help with the pain?

Is he irritable and whiny as well ?

Does he have angry tantrums where he wants things and then refuses them ?

sameervermani last decade
Yes, he is irritable and whiny, and he threw a couple of very angry tantrums last night, but he was very, very tired at the time. Otherwise, not so much. If I give him what he wants, he quietens and cheers up straightaway.

He wants to be held or played with, or at least have me or his dad close at all times.

He also has a persistent, irritated cough, a clear, runny nose and very mushy, foul smelling bowel movements.

littlefinn last decade
Any odd color to the bowel movement ?

sameervermani last decade
Not really. His bowel movements have been increasingly like this since the pulsatilla fixed his other problems. We have put it down to teething. Mostly it is a medium brown colour.

littlefinn last decade
He has a low grade temperature at the moment.

I also noticed that his breath smells a bit 'off'.

littlefinn last decade
Please give him 3 doses of Chamomilla 6c at 1 hour gap, each dose being 1/2 teaspoon.

Report in 48 hours.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, I have some of that on hand, so that's easy.

However, it is 3.30pm here, and he has just had something to eat. He then will have dinner at 5.30pm and milk, followed by bed at 7pm, so it's hard to find a gap to give him three doses one hour apart. I might have to wait until tomorrow.

littlefinn last decade
You can space by 2 hours, not a problem.

sameervermani last decade
I ended up spacing by one hour, but gave it to him while he was sleeping, during the night.

It's been almost 48 hours now and there has been a HUGE improvement, so thank you very much.

The improvement happened almost immediately. His cough has subsided a fair bit. He is sleeping better and not in so much pain. He is crying less during the day. He hasn't had a bowel movement for the last two days though. It's not unusual for him to skip one day, but it's unusual to skip two. Anyway, because of that I can't comment on whether his movements have improved since giving the cham.

He is still not entirely himself. The cough is still bothering him (it's just not as frequent). He is still waking up unrefreshed and crying (like he used to previously when he was unwell with ear infections) and needing immediate attention. Should/can I give him some more?

littlefinn last decade
I wouldn't repeat so soon.

Wait for 2 more days, and post back.

I'm just wondering if it will continue to improve, or if it's now gone as far as it will go?

littlefinn last decade
It is too soon to say whether the improvement has come to a complete halt.

We can tell better in 2 days from now.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, I understand. If his condition deteriorates before two days are up, can I give him more?

littlefinn last decade
Yes, you can repeat a 1/2 teaspoon dose after sucussing the remedy bottle 5 times.

sameervermani last decade
Please excuse my ignorance, but what does it mean to sucuss the bottle?

littlefinn last decade
Hit the bottom of the bottle on the palm of your hand , starting from a distance of about 1 foot.

5 succussions = doing the above 5 times.

sameervermani last decade
Hi again Sameer.

Two more days since I posted. Both nights have been great. Only one wakeup last night, but went straight back to sleep after a drink.

I have a feeling that the pain may be starting to return though. I can't be 100% certain yet, but he woke up from his nap prematurely this afternoon (after only 30 mins) and was screaming his head off. Really really upset and would not be consoled or go back to sleep (he normally naps for 2-2.5 hours). An hour later and he is not happy at all.

The only other things to report are that yesterday he did the foulest crap (excuse my language!) I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. It was TOXIC! It smelt like a combination of halitosis and ammonia! He's never done anything like that. That was after not having a bowel movement for two days.

Today his bowel movement was relatively good. Much less foul and more solid than it's been for a few weeks.

What do you think?

littlefinn last decade
Sorry, one more thing. His cough is still ok - it hasn't gotten worse again, but his nose is very runny (and clear) again this afternoon, like it was before we gave him the cham.

littlefinn last decade
Dear littlefinn,

We will repeat Pulsatilla in a 1M potency after this acute episode is over, and he is in a calm state.

Right now, I still think we should be in a mode where we repeat Chamomilla 6c, only 'if necessary' with 5 succussions to the remedy bottle. Do not repeat if he keeps recovering.

The foul crap is pointing to the remedy cleansing his system. So, right now , keep waiting.

Sameer

sameervermani last decade
Ok, understood.

I will only repeat the cham 6C if his condition deteriorates further. (I should know quick enough--later on tonight).

Can I just clarify, a repeat is just 1 x half teaspoon?

And how long can I keep that remedy bottle before I have to make up a new one?

I suspect the teething trouble might go on for a little longer. He has now cut two of the molars, but the other two haven't quite broken the surface yet. Not to mention that the molars have several points to break through, unlike other smaller teeth.

I'm happy to repeat puls in a higher potency - is this because you feel that he shouldn't be having acute episodes of anything so soon if the puls was working as deeply as it should? I have often heard it said that if a constitutional remedy is working properly, it should cure 'all' problems and bring the patient to a near perfect state of health, but I always thought that sounded too good to be true! ;D

littlefinn last decade
No, actually the problem is Cham anti-dotes Puls, and hence we might need to repeat Puls again after Cham to carry on the work started by Puls further.

Do not use Cham unless absolutely necessary.

sameervermani last decade
The remedy bottle does not go bad for about 2 weeks, so no need to make a new one.

sameervermani last decade
Oh no! Ok, even more reason to be careful. I hope he doesn't go backwards. :/
