Hi Sameer. It's been just over 3 weeks since the dose of sil 1M.

Since my last update, a few things have changed, so I thought I would let you know and see what you think might be happening.

The cough disappeared like magic, and for the following day he was in such a great mood it was hard to believe there had been anything wrong with him. There was no sign of a cough and no other cold-like symptoms at all.

He went back to sleeping well at nighttime and for his naps during the day, only waking for a drink of water occasionally.

The day after that (Saturday I think), his mood deteriorated somewhat. He also had a lot of mucus in his nose - it was thick and brownish, with some bits of blood (not sure whether that was a discharge or he had just been picking his nose and made it bleed). But it was definitely a different kind of mucus to usual for him. That continued for two days and then stopped.

His mood is not as bad as it was a few weeks ago, but not as good as it was a week following the 1M dose. He is waking up more cheerily than usual - particularly in the mornings - but he is prone to angry outbursts and tears over very minor things. He is tending towards a very fragiile mood in the early afternoon, straight after his nap, but he gets over it reasonably quickly.

His bowel movements have returned to normal.

His thirst is still quite high. He is sweating on his head during his sleep, but not as much as he was a week ago.

His appetite is very unpredictable. He is being picky and changeable over what he wants to and doesn't want to eat. Some days he will eat a lot, and other days hardly anything. This is not new behaviour for us, but it's a bit different to what he was like a few weeks ago.

That's about it. What do you think?

Hi littlefinn,

We can wait for 1 more week.

I think the response has not halted yet.

Hi Sameer. It's been just over 5 weeks now since the Sil 1M. I haven't been in contact over the last fortnight because life has been very hectic. Our current situation is that he is getting over a headcold - very mild in nature, although it caused some pretty major sleep disturbances.

His mood is quite good on the whole. He is still prone to irritability and clinginess after his afternoon nap.

His appetite is very picky and changeable. The foods he wants the most are: milk, cheese, pasta, bread, apple. He is still drinking a lot of water. Prone to headsweats at night, but not every night.

Bowel movements seem healthy and come every 1-2 days.

His ears still bother him a lot, particularly when it's cold or windy outside, and also while he has had this cold. He pulls at them and I think it is partially responsible for his moods and sleep disturbances. I do not think they hurt him, but I think it is uncomfortable. He had a hearing test a few weeks back and it was confirmed that the glue ear is still quite bad and he has mild hearing loss as a result.

I'm wondering what to do next or how long we should wait.

Perspiration of scalp during sleep is there in Carcinosin and Calcarea Carb.

Wind aggravation is there in both.

Fruit desire is there in both.

Bread desire is there in both.

Milk desire is there in both

Cheese desire is there in both.

Capricious appetite is present in both.

Anything else which is being observed these days ?

Do you think that silicea has done as much as it can?

Ok, thinking...

He is bossy. Likes to tell us what to do, and is good at expressing what he does/doesn't like and what he does/doesn't want to do.

Over the past 4 or 5 days he has been VERY flatulent. This is out of the ordinary.

He loves putting rocks in his mouth. Specifically rocks, not dirt or sticks.

Other aspects of his personality are as before - still loves animals, affectionate, sensitive, verbal and vocal. Still loves being wrapped up, covered, burrowing under blankets and pillows. Loves rolling about on soft things. Loves physical contact.

He is caring towards others.

Highest levels aggravation occurs between 2-4pm, and again between 1-4am.

Nails are hard and brittle (esp toenails) and grow very flat, almost curving upwards.

Very strong smelling urine lately.

When he has a lot of gas or is about to have a bowel movement, he gets very agitated and often runs up and down on the spot.

Hi littlefinn,

Let us stay with Silicea , and try another scale.

Order LM1 and LM2 along with your LM order, 30 ml teat dropper bottles.

sameervermani last decade
Ok!

Is this because the additional symptoms still point towards silicea, or because they are not pointing strongly enough at either of the other two remedies?

littlefinn last decade
Other symptoms are still pointing towards Silicea.

Hi Sameer,

It's been nearly another two weeks since I updated you. The LM bottles arrived this week, so we are ready to use them whenever you think we should.

At the moment, his condition is relatively stable. His mood is mostly quite good and he seems healthy.

The main two ongoing issues continue to be his picky appetite and disturbed sleep.

He is much happier when he wakes up these days, especially in the morning.

However, for the last two days he has been quite upset when he woke from his afternoon nap. (It is over quickly though, which didn't used to be the case). I have noticed this correlates with him playing with his ears more, and he woke this morning with a slightly snuffly nose. Perhaps he is developing another cold, or perhaps it is nothing to worry about. But I do regularly notice this pattern.

We can wait for another week, as things are going well.

Hi Sameer. It's been another week. No change, all is as reported last week.

I still think he has glue ear, and I am concerned that if we wait with treatment that it will go away by itself (it is nearly summer here, and normal for it to go away in the summer) and then come back again next year as the weather cools down.

Meanwhile, he is booked for his catch up immunisations next Thursday. I held off last time, but not sure what to do now. Since he is stable, perhaps we should get them out of the way now and then continue treatment afterwards? What do you think? These immunisations are overdue now since he was 12 months old and he is now 28 months! It is two - the remaining hib booster and also meningococcal. We are not getting the MMR, and he has no more due until he is 4 years old.

littlefinn last decade
Well if the glue ear goes away, it will be good.

When was the last time he had an ear infection ?

Regarding the vaccines, I think the decision is yours to take, as they CAN cause harm , if looked at from a homeopathic point of view, but they do also provide in most cases, immunity from the disease in question.

sameervermani last decade
Yes, but isn't the whole point to cure completely? Last summer the glue ear went away by itself, and then came back again this year. From everything I've read and been told from our ENT, this is pretty normal for toddlers who suffer from ear conditions. But if he continues to suffer from glue ear for seven months of every year, I don't see any cure! Sure, he hasn't had an infection since April, but we know that it bothers him and we know it has caused hearing loss. Glue ear might not be a dangerous condition, but surely it still indicates disease, no?

Regarding vaccines...well we have decided not to do the MMR, as I have done a bit of research on that now. We always intended to finish the ones we started, but we have held off for a long time, waiting until he was in good health. I am just wondering whether now would be an appopriate time, treatment wise. Am I correct in understanding that you don't want to go any further with homeopathic treatment right now?

littlefinn last decade
I wanted to go to Silicea LM1 next.

sameervermani last decade
That's what I thought before. I wondered if you had changed your mind.

Can we keep going if he is stable though, or are you waiting for another relapse?

littlefinn last decade
I am waiting for a bit of relapse on the mental front.

sameervermani last decade
Ok. :)

Now I need to decide on these immunisations. Since things are stable now, do you think it would be damaging to the case for him to have two now (next week)? By then it would be well over 2 months since the sil 1M does.

littlefinn last decade
Well, I cannot predict what the precise effect of immunizations would be. It all depends on how sensitive he is to them.

We can always dose with LMs if he has an unfavorable reaction to them.

Sameer

sameervermani last decade
Yeah I know. I just remember you advised against it not so long ago. But he more stable now.

I will have a think about it over the next few days.

We have Sil LM1 and 2 standing by anyway.

Thanks, will update soon.

littlefinn last decade
Hi Sameer, I hope you are well.

My son had his meningoccocal vaccination on Thursday morning. He had no adverse side effects at all, but his mood has deteriorated since.

Actually, it was starting to deteriorate slightly in the two days leading up to the vaccination, but then it got a lot worse afterwards.

He is more irritable and sensitive than usual. He is tending to lean towards the pulsatilla end of clinginess than the chamomilla end, if you get my meaning. He is quite defiant at times. He is off his food, and more picky than usual. He is pulling at his ears, especially when he wakes from his afternoon nap and is unhappy. He is waking a little more frequently at night time than usual. He is comforted with physical contact and affection, as always. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a general mental deterioration. Is it time for the first dose of LM?

littlefinn last decade
'He had no adverse side effects at all, but his mood has deteriorated since. '

Deterioration in mood is the deepest side effect one can have from the vaccination.

You can give him the LM1 dose now.

Dissolve 2 drops in 250 ml spring water, and give a teaspoon ONCE.

Report in 3 days.

sameervermani last decade
Yes, I know, but just to clarify my earlier post - his mood had started to deteriorate PRIOR to the vaccination, but became worse afterwards. Either way, I will give him the LM right before bed (it's 5pm here) or tomorrow morning after breakfast. Thanks a lot.

littlefinn last decade
Hi Sameer, it's been three days since we gave him the Sil LM1 dose.

His mood improved within 24 hours, and since then he has been very happy, bubbly and agreeable. He actually was moved into a different room in his daycare this week, and I was preparing myself for the repercussions on his emotional state, but he coped REALLY well and is having a great time! I am amazed, given how sensitive he can be.

Unfortunately his ears have been really bothering him at night time and last night was one of the most disturbed sleeps we have had in quite some time. He woke several times during the night, pulling at his ears and wanting cuddles. Possibly the silicea is working through his system still.

I guess we should wait a bit longer and report back in a couple more days?

littlefinn last decade
Hi again Sameer. It's been another four days. I hope you are not too far away!

His mood has stayed reasonably good, however he is a little more hyperactive than usual.

He is still waking a lot at night time.

What do you think we should do next?

littlefinn last decade
Give 8 hard hits to the Helios LM1 bottle on the palm of your hand.

Then wait for 2 minutes.

Take out 2 drops of LM1 in 250 ml spring water, stir with spoon, and give a teaspoon ONCE.

Report in 3 days.

sameervermani last decade
Thanks a lot Sameer. I gave it to him before bed, and I'll talk to you in a few days.
